What would you pay for an EJ22T-swapped '97 Legacy (pacific northwest)?
Good to know! Any other opinions?

What would you pay for an EJ22T-swapped '97 Legacy (pacific northwest)?
I'm looking at a car. It's a green '97 Legacy. The car has 200k miles and the swapped EJ22T has approx. 130k. The car runs beautifully, the body is fair to good and the interior is good. The car isn't pristine, nor is it thrashed. It's about average for an 11-year-old car. My problem is, I have no idea what it's worth. The NADA used value on the car (no provision for a swap) is $2575-$3575. Should the swap affect that much? What would you PNW guys pay for that car? (And no, I'm not telling you where it is, you sneaky sonsofguns...) Heck, if an expert in Subaru-swapping around Spokane would like to come spend a half-hour checking it out, I'll even roll you some bones for the kind gesture. Thanks, guys. - Tyler

Sa-weet! I want to see some burnout videos when it's done...4.11s + 230HP = AWESOME.

That's you! Unfortunately, my Hakka 5s were like tank tracks and I couldn't break 'em loose with my silly 165 HP! Well, that's cool. Have you been up to hit the ice (in the morning) and soft snow (in the afternoon) yet?

thatswhatshesaid replied to Mugs's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXNot the instance I'm referring to (I'm thinking of Colville National Forest - up by Ione), but the event you described sounds strikingly familiar to me, too...I'm trying to remember...was the car you parked next to a green Loyale, or a maroon Outback? Because I may have been driving the Loyale then...if it's one of those cars, it was probably me. I'm 5' 9", blonde, young, etc... I hike/backpack/snowboard/trail run quite a bit...and in doing so, I run into a lot of other Subaru owners. It wouldn't really surprise me to find out that at least one of them was a board member. Whoa, that's weird. I wonder how often that happens with board members?

That's crazy...I certainly hope they don't charge people for that.

Wait...are you saying that you don't change your filter every time you change the oil?

Four wheeler Magazine
I see what you're saying, Michael Appel. Perhaps a bit of exposure could change the minds of a few. I would bet if one of the 'fabbers' dropped an ad in their magazine with a nice Sube action shot, their website would go wild with hits. Or an article iin the mag. If they had reference to the USMB, I bet we'd get overloaded with hits. Anyone that reads the magazine that has a Subaru daily driver or like quirky things would be interested. Did that make sense? Probably not. Whatever.

thatswhatshesaid replied to Mugs's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX'Tis a beautiful thing...the last time I saw something like that, I was on my back to the trailhead and met some really cool people hiking into the bush as I was on my way out. As I reached the clearing where I had parked, there was my car...with a Loyale and an Impreza wagon next to it!

Calling all subie owners in north ID area
I'm close to Urabus-84HBDR...just a couple miles south. We really have quite a few in the area, if you consider the Spokanites, there's a couple from Cd'A, even Rathdrum! Most are concentrated around Spokane, Cd'A. You're a fair bit out there, Uberoo. But I'm sure we can work something out. Perhaps a Spokane meet.

Which Japanese transmissions have DCCD?
Which engine/tranny combos from Japan have the DCCD? Was it only in the RA cars? What years? Was that DCCD the same (feature/function-wise) as the ones found in 2004-present USDM cars?

My 2000 Out[boat] wagon needs some freshening up!
Thanks, porc! Oh, and when speaking of the intake, I wasn't really expecting any great power gains, I mostly just want to hear my little boxer a bit more when she talks to me! Have you guys ever "swiss cheesed" your intake? I've been hearing some of my buddies talking about it, but I'm pretty skeptical about things like this... Any other suggestions?

Free Delta Camshafts??? WTF ?
I've got a 2000 Outback! I'm in! When can I do it? Where do I need to go! How much will it cost me? Woo hoo! Cams!

My 2000 Out[boat] wagon needs some freshening up!
All right, folks...I need some advice. Some opinions, even. Maybe even knowledge. Here goes: My 2000 Outback has 137k miles. It runs pretty well. The susupension is pretty haggard (stock stuff). It sounds like a quiet, docile, gutless boxer. It's slow. It handles like an SUV. So here are my questions: - What should I replace the suspension components with? KYB struts? What about springs? If I were to lift it, where would be the best place to find lift springs? Shocks? - Engine - it's a pig. I could use a little bit more juice. Now, without rebuilding it with a turbo, etc...what are my options for a bit more pep and some better sound? Intake suggestions? Ar there any that don't suck hot engine bay air? Perhaps a header and cat-back? What should I use?

thatswhatshesaid replied to 2X2KOB's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI JUST did the plugs/wires on my '00 Outback 5 days ago. I used the factory replacement wires and it runs like a champ! I have heard the same about using non-OEM wires...please report back with results! And what did you pay for the NGKs? Because my OEMs were $76. I have also heard that the performance increase of the more expensive plugs is negligible. Expecially in our cars. Let us know what happens!

Bumpers, lifts, roofs racks...you name it. UPDATED, WITH WEBSITE 11/17
Hey - I'm still working on getting a spare car I can drive so you guys can have my Outback for a week or two...I will make it work! I haven't forgotten! Also, I had to sink some $$ in the OB, so I'm sorting out the dough aspect of it! My truck crapped out, so I'm searching fervently to see if I can borrow a car for a while! I can't wait, dudes!

2003 LLbean OBW- crappy handling
We need to clarify... In the future, please specify whether your arguments are regarding side-to-side forces, front-to-back, or top-to-bottom. That will make the argumentative/ranting process much easier.

2003 LLbean OBW- crappy handling
Weight transfer from left-to-right (or vice versa) will ALWAYS be the same. The gravity and lateral force will be present no matter what suspension set-up you have. The weight of the car and common laws of physics are NOT CHANGING. The point you brought up regarding SUVs is a completely different - the reason SUVs roll over is because they are waaaaay taller and higher off the ground. They also have more weight up high (high center of gravity). Now we're talking about up-and-down center of gravity. Not side-to-side weight transfer. Newton's laws act on SUVs and Subarus exactly the same. No exceptions. The SUVs roll over because (A) the suspension on one side compresses much more than it would on a Subaru and ( because the monstrous amount of lateral (centrifugal) force applied to a vehicle with a much higher center of gravity. The side-to-side weight transfer is no different on a 4,000-lb. Jeep than a 4000-lb. Outback (assuming the front-back weight distribution is the same for the sake of argument). It's the top-to-bottom C.O.G. that meks the Jeep flip. The laws of physics that we've known for centuries are always present. They cannot be ignored with swaybars and struts. In short, Sir Isaac Newton isn't a liar. STILL.

I think the real problem here lies in the fact that the Scandinavian Flick should not be performed on dry pavement in a car with an auto tranny and ABS...especially on public roadways. Leave those maneuvers to the pros in rally cars.
