Picture Requests *Roof Lights*

Here are some pics.... I need to clean 'em up, and spray some rustoleum on them or something... here's what I did with the wires...this is just the antenna wire for the CB, but I did the same thing with the wires for the lights when I had those wired: I'm sure you could just get a generic roofrack from walmart or something that would work well with for this application another idea I had, that I'll probably use if I add more lights in the future: They make brackets for a CB antennae that are meant to mount to a roof rack, it just a nice clamp that mounts on the rack, a 90* angle to a flat piece with a hole drilled in it, would work perfect for keeping your lights up high. -
welcome!! I don't think we have too many members from england...go figure... good luck with the potential new car!

if you're spending any extended period of time on-road, I'd recommend all-terrains, or all-seasons. I run all-seasons, and they tend to cake up in mude easier than I'd like them to, but it hasn't been a problem, yet. liberator all terrains from wal mart are very popular because they're quite good for the price. I run 215-75-15's on my 4" lifted EA82 with just a little bashing, no trimming, I'm sure you could fit these under a 4/3 EA81 with some trimming

I'll try to take a close-up pic tonight of my setup, but it's just a Yakima rack, with little flat pieces of scrap metal (happened to be filed down triangles) welded onto the ends, with a hole drilled in them (had to remove the plastic caps...which was a pain). then I bolted the lights through the hole. This was really convenient when it came time to wire them, as with the caps removed, I just pulled a wire through the bar to the other side for the far light. let's see what I can find for pics that's the only one I can find that's very good, I'll take a close-up later this afternoon -
fairly often? if you get in a crash with just the automatic shoulder strap, you'll be hung! it's worse than not putting it on at all.

I hate it...but I took a little seminar type thing before the Crawl 4 the Cure, and the guy said to ALWAYS wear your seatbelt when wheeling. that and keep your thumbs out of the wheel, so if you catch a rut, and the wheel spins, you don't break one... I hate it, and am starting to not wear it...I dunno.

Changing Instrument Panel bulb colors

my buddy did it on his newer impreza....little different idea though our overlay is tinted a bit, your yellow one will be more responsive to colored LED's behind it, the green one, probably not so much. The green dash will swap right in....so you can go that route too, by the time I junked my '85, the only things left with the yellow were the fan controls, and rear defroster button, and headlight switch, everything else I replaced with working parts (all happened to be green too) -
incredible motors/cars arent they!?

I'm not sure if anyone's said this....but northguy, I applaud you for your patience, and yet persistence on the matter! despite the time, you haven't given up, nor have you gotton [openly] angry and offensive. Good form!! it's too bad it doesn't seem to be helping.

yep yep...sorry...I meant you get the same effect, despite the fact it's not working the same way

I've got a photobucket account, but I have all my subaru pics in my usmb gallery.... well anyway, the spare on the roof, is just sitting on the roof, I run a ratcheting tie-down strap between the 2 roof rack bars, and then through the spokes of the wheel. It's solid! -

My AA bumper's not as sturdy as I'd like, but they know, and will be making them much more beefy. nonetheless, I've yanked more than my fair share of jeeps out of the muck with it, no troubles, I had to plow over a few trees turning around on an ATV trail, and tweaked it a bit, but nothing serious. -

pics of the install are on this page and the next: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=500&page=12&sort=1&perpage=12&ppuser=3242&= feel free to use any others from my album, as I blur out my license plate on anything I post on the net: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=3242 -
this is all true, but typically, in less-than-perfect conditions, like offroading, when one wheel is pushed up, it's opposite it dropped down...therefore getting articulation....in some form or another

yea...AA's been really busy lately, as evidenced by the Xmas group buy thread....I don't think that's going to happen, not if they expect to have everything out by xmas....but yes, it's worth the wait.

Idea for a "readers' rides" type thing
Numbchux replied to Snowman's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
yep, we did have it, but it was having problems with the software...when we get the upgrade, we should get that back....whenever that happens...poor shawn -
yea...I saw that, don't really like the bull bar part, but the tube bumper would be awesome! I don't really care how you do it, but I don't want gap between the bumper and grill/headlights...and I want a piece down by the bottom of the radiator, with a way to mount the lights down there.
