If you have a lift and transmission jack, drop the transmission. Should take less then an hour.

can i run xt6 tanny in front wheel drive?
you would leak out a bunch of tranny fluid. You could remove both rear axles instead.

State Laws concerning Engine Swaps
It's actually 74 and older. It's been that way for almost 10 years now.

'84 2WD tranny into '84 D/R 4WD?
The shifter linkage is different between 2wd and 4wd transmissions, so you will need to obtain those parts too.

Which cars came stock with 3.9 LSDs?
The parts books say that a 3.9 LSD was an option on the XT6 but no one on the board has actually seen one. All of the other LSDs will have a 3.7 ratio. Here's what's involved to take a 3.9 and making it an LSD using 3.7 LSD parts. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/article.php?a=36

1983 wasn't THAT long ago
The thing with dealerships is the mechanics who work there tend to get burned out after only a few years. So for the most part you're only going to see mechanics who are familiar with the newer subarus. You're best bet is to find a local repair shop the specializes in Subarus.

Block heater
That looks pretty close to the one sold by SOA

Block heater
Subaru sells a block heater that works with both EA and EJ engines. On an EA81 there is a plug that you can remove with a 14mm? allen wrench. It's located on the passenger side of the engine. If you look at the attached picture it's the bigger of the two.

C H G whats that? electric choke issue too.
Yeah the 79 had electric choke. I know on the EA81 models the choke was powered by the fuel pump control unit. I'm not sure if that's the same on the earlier subarus

91 loyale check engine light
You should check the ECU for trouble codes. Read here to find out how http://www.usmb.net/repair/?CurrentDirectory=FOLDER_3f29b58f4430b8.49200047/&FileType=Article&File=ARTICLE_3f2c055f4862e9.39782181.art My best SWAG would be a bad purge contol solenoid.

EJ-25 - EZ-30 conversion?
Probably not. I seriously doubt the ECU and wiring harnes for an EJ25 will work with and EZ30. Another concern is the accesories: A/C compressor, PS Pump and alternator. They had to place them in different locations to fit the EZ30 in the engine compartment, so the bracket will need to swapt too, and hope they are compatible.

Trick to Flywheel Removal? Pistion Removal???? (Pics Added)
No just the two on the front of the engine. It's the EA82 and later engines that have 4.

my hatch is now er27ified!(new pic)almost done.
That would be my choice too. It's a lot more compact then a ER27

Exhaust/Catalytic for EA-71
Someone here on the board may have what you need. A bit of good news is that your 79 brat is not required to have a catalytic converter.

EA82 Caliper questions
Hey guys the tool you want to use it the one shown down in the link. Even though the ad is for the complete set, I've seen the individual pieces sold in various parts stores. This tool make the job real easy. http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/ProductDisplay/s-10101/p-3184/c-10101
