  1. you were there??? crap must have missed ya
  2. They are probably a dealer only item. Now have you tried to take your's apart, clean it up and make it work again? it's not that hard to do.
  3. My guess would be that yours has been replaced with one from maybe a later Subaru with OBD2 or that the quit putting the lens in to see the LED at some point. right now the only other way I know of to retrive the codes is with a subaru select monitor. I'll have to ask a buddy who's a subaru mechanic.
  4. i have and i have inclued a picture i hope you can read all the numbers on it.
  5. Qman has two brats, check out his singature the
  6. hey jerry, dose the EA81 master cylinder push enough fluid volume to maintain the required pressure when the rear disk pads are near the end of their service life?
  7. you know i'm not convienced that ea81s and ea82s even have a proportining valve. I went looking through my FSM and the section on brakes dose not mention there being a proportining valve. Also if they did have one wouldn't they really need two, since these models use crossed brake channels? I.E. left front and right rear are on one channel and right front and left rear are on the other. You would think that an FSM would mention that they had one.
  8. Under that flap is where the abs brain should be. the flap is only big enough for you to open it and see the flashing led.
  9. Well first of all, all EA82s are OHC. So if your other engine is really an OHV then it's either an EA81 or EA71. Now then if your other engine is a Carb EA82 after all then you could just swap the longblocks. It wouldn't be too bad to do, you would need to plug the ASV hole in each head. The big downer is that the Carb version has a lower compression ratio then the SPFI version. If your other engine is an EA81 it's possible to make a similar swap. Some more mods would be required. Including the distrbutor the that it will fit correctly into the EA81 engine. You would also have to come up with the right flywheel and clutch combination. If you have an EA71, don't bother trying. You would have to use its carburetor intake and monkey around to make that all work. This is because the SPFI intake dosen't come close to fitting on that engine.
  10. There is a suplement service manual for the 83 & 84 turbo models but good luck finding one. Also they use basically the same bosche EFI system that subaru used on the 85&86 EA82Ts
  11. I know this is a stupid question but did you grease the portion of the seal that the shaft spins inside of.
  12. We failed again tonight:banghead: but we did manage to get most of the bolt material out of the hole. We also took the head off the engine so it can be sent to a machine shop. There maybe enough material left in the hole to just retap it. If not they should be able to put in a thread insert in without any problem. What's really annoying is that we spent hours messing with the bolt and it only took 10 minutes to get the head off, if that. We also discovered that cylinder #4 has what appears to be a EA71 piston in it while #2 has an ea81 piston.
  13. Try searching some developmental aircraft sights. If I remember right one or two mention that engine in little blurbs.
  14. We tried again today with the easyout but we ended up braking it. The good news is that we were able to get the rest of the easyout out of the hole in the bolt.
  15. Fuel injected EA81s/EA82s only have the one filter in the engine compartment
  16. let's not get too far ahead of things. Get a clear glass jar and drain some gas into it. Let it sit for a few minutes to let everthing settle. Then check to see if there is something mixed in the gas
  17. Tomorrow we'll try heating the head around the bolt and getting more leverage on the easy out. I'm afraid we're fighting galvanic effect of leaving aluminum in contact with steel and they have ceased together. I just hope we don't have to drill out the whole bold and put in a thread insert.
  18. Skip our cars are Twins. I have a 94 GT as well but I put WRX wheels on mine. Same color too.
  19. I take it you passed the idle test then? Did you take it for a long run down the freeway in a lower gear like 3rd or 4th? The Cat need to be good and hot to work well.
  20. Somewhere on the internet there should be an article about how to use your DMM with an O2 sensor to measure you mixture. I just can't remember where I found it.
  21. yeah by the time you pay for the trip on the car carrier you're above MSRP per car
  22. Dose your other manifold have an EGR tube? if it dose just cut the one you have with the saws all or cut-off wheel.
  23. Start drilling it out, eventually the manifold will loosen up before you get to the block
