  1. i haven't noticed any moisture but you could always seal the whole in the gromet with a little silicon
  2. When I wired up my legacy I cut a whole in the gromet the sits in the bottom of the spare tire carrier and ran the wires through it. Your forester my have a gromet in that area too.
  3. So what's like when you take a clover leaf freeway ramp in it?
  4. no limit on the bandwidth usage to the best of my knowlege but I am limited to nly 25MB of online storage.
  5. About a year and a half ago i was having a conversation with one of the mechanics that I worked with at a Subaru only Shop. At the time he was doing a HG job on a EJ25 phase 1. He told me that the gaskets he was putting in were the second redesign that he's seen in the gaskets that SOA sells. About a month ago we were talking again about headgaskets and he was telling me that basically none of the Subarus that he'd did a headgasket job with those gaskets have come back in with blown headgaskets. So maybe SOA has fixxed the problem, but it'll probably take another year or two to know for sure.
  6. I finally got My WRX wheels mounted on my Legacy. The Tires are Toyo Proxes 4s and their size is 205/55/16. What a difference compaired to the cheap 14s I had on there.
  7. Your best bet is Ebay or a good used book store like Powel's
  8. If i remember right there is a XT6 message board out there. you might want to try looking it up ans asking your questions there.
  9. Okay here it goes Carbureted 8 degs SPFI 20 degs MPFI 6 degs MPFI Turbo 25 degs Oh did you get a long block with the same compression ratio because carb and SPFI use different CRs
  10. To get the transfer case off you need to 1. Take off the inspection cover and remove the 4wd shift fork, this part can be really tricky so be careful. This should allow you to get the tail housing off. 2. with the tail housing away you will need to remove the locknut that holds the 4wd, drive gear to the main output shaft of the transmission. On EA81 and EA82 transmissions this requires a very thin wall socket, Subaru sell one but usually people buy a regular 6 point socket and either grind it down of turn it on a lathe. 3. once you get that gear off, the transfer case should come off.
  11. I'll be there, an friend of mine who's not on the board will be there too.
  12. It can be done that way but it still will be heavy. you would want a few helpers to lift it or maybe a fork lift.
  13. I would hold off on all of the pulley swappin until you know for sure that you can't read the marks on the flywheel with the different intake. One possible stumbling point could be with the A/C compressor. I'm pretty sure that XT's only came with the Hitachi A/C system. If your GL has one of the Panasonic systems or Nippondenso system, you may not be able to find a compressor or compressor pulley that will work with the different belts. The power steering and water pump pulleys should swap, I’m not sure if you can swap the alternator pulley hand have the correct alignment.
  14. You could find a S/R or D/R Full time 4wd tranny.
  15. Yeah that track did deteriorate quickly; i'm lucky that production got to run first. By my last run, the course was trashed. I hit a couple of ruts that just tossed my back end around and i had t back off on the gas. Atleast back in February the ground was moist enough that things didn't get bad until the afternoon. And what was up with the water truck, They only sprayed enough down to settle the dust for 2 or 3 cars.
  16. they will bolt up but it still requires the right combination of flywheel, clutch disk and pressure plate to work.
  17. The only sealed beams for an 86 wagon are for the quad setup that came with the DL models
  18. The only ea81s that came with a 5 speed were 2wd. All of the 4wd models were 4 speeds. Most of those were dual range. Some people here have done the swap from D/R 4 speed to D/R 5 speed. Now Going from an automatic 4wd to D/R 4 speed has been done too. So it's fair to say that going from 4wd automatic to D/R 5 speed could probably be done too.
  19. Try testing the horn itself, they do go bad
  20. i'll try to be there. Production is running morning session right? So I'll have to leave my place at about 5:00 a.m.
  21.
