  1. Whiteline show a rear sway bar kit for the EA81s in their catalog. I wonder if any of the US distributors can get them.
  2. What gauge/wallthickness is your tubing? If it thinner then 14 gauge (.075 wall) it maybe difficult to weld to the fanges.
  3. Just take a hammer to it. If that dosen't work, get a bigger hammer.
  4. Intake manifold gasket(s) Exhaust gasket(s) Special socket for center head bolt. feeler gages Valve lash adjustment tool (you could use regular wrenches but having the real thing is much nicer) There's probably more but I can't think too well this late.
  5. I would recommend renting a 3 ton floor jack, the larger cup and wider base will help quite a bit. Sometimes you can also get an adapter plate that you can secure a transmission too.
  6. well I have the other problem, I'm single and don't have a place to work on my Subarus
  7. You can find a lot about FHI here http://www.fhi.co.jp/english/index.html Also the R160 rear diff is made by Hitachi. Of you look at the sticker you'll find the Hitachi Logo.
  8. Someone please decide on a time, It's not easy to schedule a 6hr round trip on short notice.
  9. My 94L with the GT optinion package was the first Legacy model with the raised roof. In 95 Subaru came out with the Outback, It had the 2 tone and raised roof like Flowmaster says. I think the More common Legacy GT came out in 96 maybe 97.
  10. I've replaced the window regulator before which requires removing the glass. Taking the glass out isn't too bad if you have done it a couple of times. It's even easier if you don't care about the old door, an air chisel makes quick work of things. What you need to do is to remove the door panel along with the top trim. Near the top of the door there are a couple of rollers those need to go. Unbolt the glass from the regulator and slide it out. Be careful the glass is a little heavier then you would expect. I don't have much advice on aligning the new glass; it's a trial and error thing unless you've done it about 100 times. The lock is easy. Detach the rod and pull out the clip and you are done. If you need help just call I could head out to your place after work some night.
  11. Part of what you have heard is ture. People do put EA71 pistons into an EA81 Block but they do not use EA71 connecting rods, there is a difference between the journal diameters. There is not any risk of the pistons hitting the valves with this configuration and the pistons do not extend past the deck of the block.
  12. the 15" wheels that came with the Turbo legacys should have the offset stamped into the casting on the back side.
  13. okay you have made me break out my FSM and owners manuals EA81 4wd AUTO front diff is 3.454 :1 Transfer gear .933:1 rear diff is 3.7:1
  14. Yeah a EA81 with an Auto should have a 3.70 rear diff
  15. Could you have waited untill I finished my last post to make the anouncement. Oh well I still guest wrong.
  16. Not knowing what your first subaru was dose not help with the guessing. Now your profile says your old EZboard name was "My Favorite Legacy" from that I'm going to take the assumption that your first subaru was a legacy. Your clue that it's a 4 speed dose eliminate a some possibilities such as the majority of the EA82s, 2wd EA81s, 2wd ea71s with a 5-speed and any legacy or impreza with a manual transmission. So let's see what's left, EA71s that aren't 5-speeds, 4wd EA81s, EA82s that came with a 4EAT along with Legacys imprezas and SVXs with automatic transmission. You also think you'll get some new boyfriends since you now have a cool subaru. To me that narrows it down to 3 possibilities. A Brat, a XT6 with a 4EAt, or a SVX. Since Qman already guessed a Brat and a SVX post should be on the NewGen forum, my guess is a XT6 with at 4EAT.
  17. a friend of my dad make the reno to portland trip a couple of times a year, he says the fastest way is to go from reno to klamath falls then up US97 to OR58 and take 58 to I-5
  18. If the high beam switch for a xt6 is the same as the rest of the subarus, it pull back to flash the high beams and push forward to have them stay on.
  19. It sounds like you have a bent or unballanced wheel.
  20. 100% aluminum radiators and heater cores brake calipers that don't suck like the rest of the aftermarket ones EA81 cylinder heads with injector bosses some kind of locking diff and I don't mean a lincoln locker 14 inch and 15 inch wheels with 4x140mm lug pattern 304SS exhaust systems with equal length header I think whiteline make a rear sway bar kit for the EA81s and EA82s add them to the list. 100 amp alternators
  21. My friend with the Blue RS says it's okay to use that picture but you must blure out the licence plate number.
  22. Hmm what's with this 10 character feldercarb?
  23. It sounds like you have a set of EA81 wheels on your EA82 subaru. Having the wheels rub is a know issue with this combination. Your best solution is to put your good tires on a set of EA82 wheels.
  24. If the part numbers are the same then you shouldn't have any problems.
  25. I may show up then again maybe not. If the weather is nice I'll probably be down here doing yard work.
