  1. oh FYI EA81 and EA81T use the same cam same goes for EA82 Carb and EA82T
  2. Maybe i didn't explain it well enough. With the Bosch EFI systems, with the vain style MAF there is a sensor that measures manifold pressure. There is two versions of this sensor one for Turbo engines the other is for non-turbo engines. You should be able to replace the one that measures boost in your EA81T with one that measure vacuum from a non-turbo 85/86 MPFI. Your best chance to find one would be from a 85/86 non-turbo XT.
  3. Jamie, Here's a link to the photos I took. You're welcome to put them on your site if you want too. http://usmb.net/gallery/album172?page=1 Craig
  4. Brian, One of the Mechanics at the Subie Shop I worked at did that conversion on an EA81T for someone wanting to use if in his kit aircraft. For the Engine Management he used the EA81T ECU, wiring harness, fuel injectors and all but on sensor. The one sensor he didn't use was the boost sensor; he replaced it with the vacuum sensor from an 85/86 non-turbo MPFI. Remember EA81T and the 85/86 EA82 MPFI / EA82T use almost identical Bosch fuel injection systems. For the short block he just replaced the turbo pistons with N/A pistons.
  5. Did you convert your EA81T to a carbed EA81? Because the fuel pump from a carbed engine dosen't deliver enough fuel to get you down the road.
  6. Hey here are the pics I took. Except for the pics that Ed was nice enough to take of me going around. http://usmb.net/gallery/album172?page=1
  7. A Hitachi that's similar to what came on the 80 4wd models.
  8. Mapquest is saying that it's about a 3 hour drive to get there from portland. Dose that sound right to you guys???
  9. I would like to meet up with you guys but I'm running in the morning session
  10. an 86 turbo didn't use the crank angle sensor type distributor, it used the inductive pick-up type, so just put the distributor from your 86 engine into your 90 engine.
  11. I have a feeling that it's the timing belt for that side of the engine. It's a pretty simple check, just pull of the outer cover on that side and take a look.
  12. I emailed them about the helmet, they will have loaners. Anyone else beside me and Flowmaster planning to drive up from Portland? Is would be a good Idea if well planned on meeting somewhere and comming up as a group.
  13. hey, what class is everyone going to run in? Since I'll have to take my Legacy, I'll be stuck in Production class. Also it says on the rules page that they will have loaner helments http://nwr-scca.org/rallycross/rallycross_rules.htm
  14. When I was talking to Austin (Ratty2Austin) about his 5 speed swap, he said that he used a 9 inch EA81 flywheel with an EA82 disk and presure plate.
  15. from what i've read about Bosch injectors, it's really the color of the top of the injectors that identifies the flow rate. Then again maybe I missread the article.
  16. right now it's a 50/50 chance of me making it up there. If I do I'll have to run my legacy this time in the production class since my dad is borrowing my GL because he blew the motor in his minivan. Oh are they going to have loaner helmets???
  17. John I'm afraid you don't have all of your facts straight about EA82T heads. Let's start with the crack between the valves. It is very common to find crack between the valves of all EA82 and EA82T heads. Subaru released a factory service bulletin regarding this issue and basically those cracks are not a problem. Here's a PDF copy of the service bulletin. http:home.comcast.net/~c.moe/heads.pdf Now the crack that is a problem with EA82T heads is the one that develops where the exhaust runners converge in the center of the exhaust port. Behind that point is a water jacket and what happens is that the coolant expands enough to cause a crack. Subaru finally solved this problem with the 3rd generation heads. MPFI and Turbo heads share the same casting, The Left heads are the same between the two except I heard somewhere that Turbo's got stronger valves. The difference in the right heads is that the turbo head has the oil return.
  18. for ea81 d/r and s/r 4wd 83-84 has a higher ratio for both 3rd and 4th then 81-82.
  19. The only dealership I get parts from is Lithia subaru in Oregon City, The two senior part's counter guys have been there roughly 20 years one of them still has an 81 wagon as a daily driver.
  20. If you use the same timetable that we went by for WCSS5 you shouldn't have any problem making it there in time for the morning run.
  21. Hey Mike what happened to going down to Sea Side and taking 26 back home???
  22. Hey, I would like to thank everyone who showed up today. We did end up having some fun didn't we. here's a link to the photos I took http://usmb.net/gallery/album167
  23. If the link works, here's a map to Mike's, if you need directions there's a place to add a starting address. http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?country=US&countryid=250&addtohistory=&address=3001+Se+Harrison+St&city=Milwaukie&state=Or&zipcode=&submit=Get+Map I'm planning to be there around 11 a.m. with my Legacy. My dad is borrowing my GL
