  1. Let me ask the owner of the Blue RS for permission before you finalise everything, and what exactly are you going to use the picture for?
  2. In 84 maybe 83, subaru swtich from a 8 inch to a 9 inch clutch disk and pressure plate on the EA81s with 4wd. So what you would have to do is aquire a flywheel from an 84 with 4wd replace your existing one with it then order a clutch kit for an 84 with 4wd.
  3. You should add a water pump to the shopping list since you need to take the timing belts off to change it too. And for a sealer, I like to use Loctite 518
  4. Here's the short version of the directions, you may want to reconsider doing this for the first time without a manual, even the stupid underware manual. 1. remove all accesory belts. 2. detach powering stearing pump from bracket and sit it out of the way. 3. detach AC compressor from bracket and sit it out of the way. 4. remove radiator fans. A must with the mechanical and very helpful with the electric. 5. find a way to prevent the flywheel from turning 6. Remove bolt from crank pully 7. Remove crank pully from crank. 8. Take off the timing belt covers. 9. take of the timing belts 10. remove the pump from the block 11. change the seals and o-rings 12. reassemble in reverse order. This is may not cover everything. Like i said it's the short list
  5. Sometimes they will showup on Ebay. Also check here for PDF versions http://techinfo.subaru.com/html/index.jspthere is a 19.99 subscription fee for a 72hr subscription but if you have broadband you should be able to download everything in that amount of time or order the different CDs.
  6. I've always been a fan of the OEM clutch kits. They include new, not remanufactured: disk, pressure plate, release bearing and pilot bearing. I paid $122.28 the last time I got one. I would also recommend getting a new Release bearing holder. They get a lot of ware, where they contact the clutch fork.
  7. you have a PM Oh remeber this pic http://usmb.net/gallery/album167/Feb_14_Meet_and_Greet_2
  8. I might be able to buy some Pirelli P7000 tires 205/55/16 and I was wondering if anyone has had some experience with them on a Subaru?
  9. Yeah someone set a time date and place, I may want to come up for the fun.
  10. I rather have this one. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=90789
  11. hmm, Ratty2Austin said that he used an EA81 Flywheel with an EA82 Disk and pressure plate when he did his 5speed swap.
  12. Here's a pic from a 86 FSM showing the CAM timing for the different EA82 cams. At some point I must have deleted the other pic I had showing How to ID the different CAMs and the lobe dimentsions. I do remember though that the Turbo and Carb cams have the same ID markings
  13. This all depends on the year, which the EA71 flywheel came come. I know that the early EA71 flywheels (where the starter mounted at the top of the bell housing) were smaller in diameter then the EA81/EA82 flywheels. The difference is enough that the starter will not engage the gear that goes around the flywheel. Also the distance between the center of the flywheel to the centers of the boltholes is also different. There may not be enough material to re-drill the EA82 bolt pattern.
  14. The last time I looked an EA82 FSM it showed that the carb engine and the turbo engine use the same cam.
  15. Here's a tool I made to pull the end of the axle through the bearings when you install the axle. It's similar to the one that SOA sells.
  16. I had a set of hella 530s with the spot pattern on my old hatch. They were good with the 55w bulbs and even better with 100w bulbs. I'm not sure if hella still makes the 530s but I know they still make the 500s, which are also a great set of lights. They also offer polycarbonate lens shields for most of their lights. One thing I've noticed about the the higher end light sets Like Piaa and Hella is they include a premade harness and a relay in with their light sets. I'm not sure if you will get that from a lower end set of lights.
  17. That caliper may be the one the hill holder engages.
  18. You maybe low on coolant. Sometimes when the coolant level is low, coolant that's in the heater core will drain into other parts of the system when the engine is shut off. What you end up hearing is the coolant filling up the heater core.
  19. From ever subaru I've either owned, worked on or new the owner of; what you are describing is normal. When the rpms start to clime just tap the gas pedal once. The choke then should open to half-way and continue opening untill the engine is warmed up all the way.
  20. I know that DOHC was not available on the EJ22 in North America but I was wondering if they came on EJ22s in some other markets. I'm having some delusions of grandeur(sp) and DOHC would be a nice thing to add to this.
