  1. the first stereo i put in my 84 i just left it hanging out a bit and you had to be carefull shifting into third. when i took it into get the tires replaced i told them that it is hard to get it into reverse and when they get to that point have me come and pull it out. well they didn't and in the prosess of fighting with the shifter ended up trashing my radio. i was pissed and they wouldn't do any thing about it. thankfully it was a cheap tape deck. the secound deck i put in there was around $400 and i put it at a slight angle so that it was in the console all the way. the next time i ad tires put on i told the people installing the tires about last time. and warned them that if they hurt it they would be buying me a new one. it was amazing they called me back to back the car out.
  2. i would like to get the rx shell that XSNRG was for sale in the market place. but i don't think it will happen cuz i don't have a very practical way to get it to wyoming
  3. dang i wish i was closer but hey mabey i'll see what can do i'm always up for a road trip
  4. how worn are your front pads. i have noticed that the closer they get to worn out the more you have to pull up on the e-brake handle
  5. auto zone will lone you the tool for a $30 deposit that you get back when you return the tool
  6. build a spanner wrench. what i did was take a piece of metal about an inch wide and 2 foot long drilled two holes in it to catch two of the four holes on the cam pulley and put a 1/4 bolt and nut to hold the bolt to my wrench. \ i found that you want to go for two holes right next to each other i wasn't thinking right when i drilled them the first time and i made it to across the pully . kinda hard to get the wrench on there to get the pullys off. the wrench will also help when you go reinstall the timing belts. if you don't want to make a tool. just get an impact wrench. and since these are non interference moters you don't need to worry about bending valves
  7. get rid of the stock air box and put a k&n cone filter in, get 8mm spark plug wires, and open up the exhaust some
  8. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=23610 http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=23763 check out these threads i have 2.5 exhaust on my turbo and a noticed a big deferance in power and the turbo spooled alot faster. and i already had a gutted cat before i put the 2.5 on
  9. thanks for the info. i was going off what my parents found out when we where trying to decide what car to tow behind our moter home my 84 gl wagon or my sisters 87 gl-10 wagon<which is my baby now> and we were told you couldn't tow the 85 and newer on a tow bar. it is good to know i can
  10. i know you can't tow the 85 and newer wagons on a tow bar cuz the steering won't track right i bet you will find the same problem with the xt. i believe we called the subaru dealer to find out.
  11. get a piece of cardboard and try blocking off some of the air flow to the radiator.
  12. i'd say time for a new tranny. hey just put a 5-sp dual range in
  13. that is because they are too under powered to brake the tires loose in 4wd even on ice.<J/K>
  14. The probe is about in inch behind the turbo. i know it is suppose to be before the turbo right off the engine. but right behind the turbo is a lot easier to get too. My mods are 2.5 inch exhaust, spider intake, and wrx tmic, oh and a two row radiator i also have a air fuel gauge and the car always runs on the rich side unless i'm idleing
  15. i am curious what my exhaust temp should be running at. At light throttle just cruzzing I run between 800 to 1000 degrees. If i'm pushing it hard staying at full boost it runs around 1400 degrees. I'm just running stock boost. I'm was wondering if these temps are normal
  16. if the tps turns out to be bad i may have an extra one comeing into my hands that i could let you have
  17. next he's going to tell us it was snowin and he was bare foot too<G>
  18. if you have trailer brakes and like going slow you could do it. i did tow my 57' chevy truck on a car dolly behind my 84 wagon but i wouldn't recommend it. i was going less than a mile. the brakes where the main problem. the car is so light that the truck would over power them
  19. i can't answer all your questions but for the power stearing i believe 80-84 wagons, 80 and up hatches, and 80 and up brats. if i am wrong someone please correct me
