A riddle for you all...RX vs GL-10
stngllhm replied to WJM's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
the center of gravity is lower in the 3-dors i do believe. the height from the bottom of the rocker panels to the top of the roof should be lower. so in other words you have less wight up top pullin you around. just a guess -
i went to stay the night at my sisters place and it had been snowing a little but heck my 84 wagon was invensible i made it to here house no problem but the next day i went to go get in my car and could barely see it we got 4 feet of snow that night so needless to say i got out of school for a few days and my wagon was stuck for about a month. it sucked

was out at the 4-wheel drive park in my 84 wagon and i saw this really long mud pit i knew i couldn't make it though. so i went over to some guys standing around some trucks and made sure one of them had a rope of chain. then i got a run at the mud pit. i did not realize but there was a little hump right before the pit started i hit that and lauched about 2 car lengths and nose dived into the pit the entire hood was under water and most of the front doors i had to take out the sunroof to get out the back wheels were dangling in the air it was awsome. when i got the car out i dried out the distrubuter cap and drove home very happy. it was fun

are you sure it is fuel injected i think the first year you could get a fuel injected was 87. the L4 problly stands for lateral 4 cylinder just a guess -
first ? how many miles on both also you can give yours a good tune up new cap, rotor, plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter this my help you get back some power
-
look at the date this was started
-
the only other problem may be after sitting for so long the rings might have seized so they won't seal right. but some times you can get them to unsieze
-
you will most likely have to replace all seals

stngllhm replied to dieselvan2003's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
if you are talking about the seal between the cam tower and head the silicone is how it was sealed stock. on a side note if you are replacing the intake gaskets don't use felpro you will almost certainly going to have problems i like the victor-rienze gaskets from car quest -

Poor gas mileage...why why WHY!
stngllhm replied to Urban Coyote's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i believe the range is 0 to 1 volt but what is more important is how quick the occelations are as the o2 senser gets old the occelations get slower and so the injectors can't meter the fuel as accerate. it has been a long day so don't hold me to anything i say -
QuikSteel use on exhaust....
stngllhm replied to mcbrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
just run it open i ran my 84 with no y-pipe for about 3 months with no ill effect exept i can't hear any more<G> -
why am i only getting 19mpg (86 gl wagon)
stngllhm replied to 83projectbrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
an o2 sensor will get sluglish before it goes out. so it still works just the ocselations<i know its spelled wrong>won't be as quick and so the injectors can't adjust the fuel as often as it should hope i made that a little more clear and if i didn't just tell me to shut up -
Poor Mans Gasket Kit (whats needed?)
stngllhm replied to 4RnrRick's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
oh i would say you should be able to get it done in a day, but if your luck is anything like mine you will mess something up or forget some little part that will stop you from finishing so probbly a weakend profect cuz you are still learning the engine -
EA82T waterpump differences?
stngllhm replied to Caboobaroo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
if the pulley on the water pump has though holes<in other words if the fan bolts to the studs that are on the water pump> you need the taller waterpump if your pulley has four studs attached to it for the fan you need the stort one. make any sence -
