Don't expect any noticable performance gains from 2" cat back and a cherry bomb.
-
Yeah cherrybombs arent for hunting. $300 for a good setup aint bad; I'd hit Qman up on that guy he knows. I've spent way more than that on variouse custom setups I've done over the years. $300 in the hands of someone who knows exactly whats up with exhuast will go a lot further

'sploding headlight bulbs?
MorganM replied to Numbchux's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Chux did you handle it with your hands or an oily rag? I had bad cracks and a hole in my left head light. So bad that half the reflector is just solid rust. Never blew out a bulb from water, snow, or mud that obviously got all up in there on a regular basis. Maybe it never got to the actual bulb but they were some seriouse cracks and a BB sized hole. Just replaced my whole headlight assemblies with some 'new' ones off a loyale I stripped. Much better! -
Yeah road signs aren't a new idea. I have no problems going down to the steel yards and buying what I want for supplies. That's not really why I posted this topic. HOW are your skid plates implemented. Theories are great, I have plenty myself, but I want to see what people have already implemented. Specificly how exactly they are mounted to the vehicle.

I'm excited to see yet another MN Subaru wanting to get lifted. From what you explain the car will be mostly on-road and a little off-road. If you are comfortable working on the vehicle extensivly then a lifting your Subaru isnt out of the question. Keeping the tire size to 26" or 27" tall will be less wear and tear on the vehicle. Since you wont be going offroad much that saves on a lot of added wear and tear. It is an old car however and it's going to need maintainace plus repairs as needed. As far as capability it should meet and exceed your expectations. Deep snow will be enjoyable to drive through. Stay out of the mud unless you like getting stuck and walking in it You could go over to Gilbert at the state offroad park and enjoy about half of the trails they have for ORVs. Plenty of easy trails to enjoy out there. Easily to do a one day trip from Duluth to Gilbert.

I think what he's pointing out is the diff will sit at an angle if you just flip it. YOu'd have to drill new holes to line the diff horizontal again. I still think it's unecessary to flip it over

My main goal before going to Crawl 4 the Cure offroad event this 4th of July is skid plates I've trying to figure out exactly what I want. Main concern I see so far is mounting it. Plenty of threaded holes I can use but they are 1" to 2" above where the skid plate(s) will actually sit. Please post what you have setup and pictures if you got them.

'88 EA82 SPFI: engine repair options
MorganM replied to dgsav's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I'll address your opinionated questions rather than specific details like why your oil pressure has changed. This is because it really doesnt matter what is wrong with the current engine if you are going to replace it with a CCR Inc. built engine. I blew a head and gasket on my '88 GL SPFI about 5 years ago now. Loving the car so much I decided to rebuild the engine. Not knowing much about real automotive mechanics back then I had a machine shop do the block and heads for me. What I spent there plus everything else it took to get it running again; I could have bought an engine from CCR Inc. That being said I now know a whole lot about my Subaru and automotive mechanics. Over the years now since then I've come to find how much I love offroading and building my Subaru into a trail rider and applied that gained knolwedge; even expanding on it to new areas. The question is; what are you going to do? Read all the opinons that are soon to follow and make the right decision for you and your Subaru =^.^= -
I like the GL10 pillow top seats more! :-p

Falls on its face... Dealer stumped
MorganM replied to Boo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I've lost count how many times my Subaru has done that Some wierd problem that just goes away before I can figure out what it was. Glad you made it home safe. -
How did it deflate though? Gash? Hole? Bead?

score at the junk yard.. rare find :P
MorganM replied to Meeky Moose's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
That's where I put my fan switch. Makes for a nice clean install since you can pop out the little plastic plate, drill a hole, and run the wires in the dash. -
Turning around illegaly in the median isnt offroading :-p

I dunno what to do with my 93 Loyale!!!!!
MorganM replied to Tyler's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
You are running on battery power and your battery is now low or dead. New alterantor and battery is where I would start. -
One more thing that helps give offroading a bad image

14" or 15" Pugeot rims on '92 Loyale
MorganM replied to cmiller's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
You wont burn clutches from bigger tires. I'm running 15" steel pugs, 29" tires, and a reused clutch assembly from my 5speed swap. You'll be fine with pugs and bigger tires -
'Shaved' Brat [or any EA model]
MorganM replied to MSSLGECKO's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I removed all trim on my wagon. I think it looks better w/o it. Wish I could install XT6 shaved door latches; those are so trick.
