Torxxx is coming down from Fairbanks next weekend, and Snowman and I are going to meet up with him. Inviting any and all other board members and subathusiasts to meet up also. With the limits of what may and may not be discussed in these forums, it's probably not a bad thing to be able to rehash old ideas. Besides, if we never explore new ideas, but continue to fix old problems the same old way, we will never come up with new innovations. There are always other options to explore.

he only factor for replacement may be that it might be cost prohibitive. Cats are notoriously expensive and most states with emissions testing forbid replacement with anything but new parts. With 200k on the clock, do you want to drop $300+ into the exhaust?

I can't attest to the tranny you're looking at, but my wife and son's EJ trannys (a 5 spd and an auto) both walk up our driveway with no problems when the UPS man is sitting in the ditch in his F-250 with 4wd and a big V-8. It really pisses him off.
