  1. Hmmm I wonder if they can make a plush Baja
  2. Reminds me of when the 2002 came out.... I recall something along the lines of Neon headlights, toyota echo taillights
  3. make sure you didnt knock any wires loose either... like sensors, spark plug wires, grounds, etc
  4. I agree, I had electric on both mine. From my experience on an EA81 (gen 2) the 32/36 DGEV worked the best. (My brat came with a carter/weber so I had to swap to the hitachi manifold, but kept the stock wiring and throttle cable) On an EA82 the 32/36 DFEV works the best because the choke HAS to be in the back.... otherwise it hits the power steering pump (if you have it) The DGEV had to be turned backwards which created throttle cable issues, so I just got the DFEV.... worked quite well til I blew the engine. Since you are gen 1 likely the DGEV is the way to go... though I never have converted a gen 1.
  5. according to my parts guy back when I was in high school and I had my GL the little black box is a "seat belt timer" I never had any problem unhooking it when I popped in my impreza cassette deck. Though I think I just broke all the tabs off it and slid it back into the dash somewhere and left it plugged in
  6. Met him, talked to him but I cant remember his name! Arrgh!
  7. Scoobyclimbs... you forgot to tell everyone what you scored from the raffle!
  8. nice to see everyone there, sorry I had to split early sunday... but I had to go to work... a little hung over on the drive home... but made it
  9. it was clear enough here that I could mow my lawn with the electric mower without getting killed Anything is better than the storm i was in at the Walmart DC in Texas See everyone Saturday morning
  10. Someone bought an automatic WRX... thats SOOOO wrong... gotta go 5 speed
  11. Should you get it.... yes why not? Makes me think of AL Bundy and his Duster..... when it hit 1Mil dodge was going to give him a new Viper, but it rolled out of the driveway and the odometer turned over off of camera so he was driving around to try to get it to roll over again
  12. What Rob said... a couple? I have bought 1 kit from Ozified. VERY well built and designed. Should last longer than the subaru its bolted on to. Install wasnt too difficult either. I would buy another if I had a liftable subaru. (not lifting the baja til the warranty is up)
  13. the EJ18 probably gets better mileage anyway
  14. If I recall I got $700 or so for my 87 GL (at the time it had 287K) they said the damage was about $1500, so they paid me the value of the car and I bought it back for $55 I think and had to go back to the DMV and have a new salvage title issued. Cost me like $30 to fix in my case as the hit was WAY less severe. I would keep your car, if your miles are lower than mine were you may be able to fight the insurance company.... but in my case I didnt bother since I could buy it back SOOOO Cheap.
  15. I think the video of you pulling the toyota out of the mud from last year is enough for the subaru community
  16. First make sure the blank even has the same groove spacing. My GL and Baja keys were NOT the same spacing. Close, but not the same. I agree with going to the dealer... dont let a high schooler cut it at home depot
  17. For EA81, I agree with GD. For EA82's I lean towards the DFEV personally... electric choke and its backwards so the throttle cable works WAY better.
  18. Done a large drive before... just keep it near the speed limit and you dont get too much attention. Its 70 in WA, so keep in 75 or less and you are likely going to be fine. I doubt I can make a convoy, in the 70% chance I will make it, it will be after work and I dont know when I will be off that day.
  19. I agree with that... I ONLY use 6 points on the really critical or tight bolts.
  20. There is a place between here and seattle with like 3 unimogs out front... I think 1 or 2 are even for sale
  21. another outside the box option... If you have a hoist lift up the engine just slightly (just undo the engine mounts) and yank the whole pan and swap it out. Hopefully it doesnt come to that... but it IS an option
  22. 17900 on my 05 Baja My 87 GL died with 321K My 2003 Freightliner has 690K
  23. You should have reported it to insurance, bought it back for $50 and THEN fixed it (like I did with my GL) Yes the title gets branded but you get a nice fatty check too
  24. yes they can be either. My GL was carbed. my friends was SPFI. Its possible the swap either happened in the middle of the year OR possibly the 49 state versions were carbed and the CA models were SPFI... not sure which but I am sure one of those 2 is the correct explination
