  1. Thats ok, i emailed a follow up letter and got a response to that too, so its a human on the other end. And they do listen to the letters. I asked them about a 50/50 switch and better colors nipper
  2. I was going to say, I have three gauges, abtter, temp (tranny) and oil pressure. JDM gauges watch ebay the come up from time to time. nipper
  3. Just the act of diconnecting them is sometimes enough to clean the terminals. We shall see what happens after a few tanks of gas . nipper
  4. I dont live in MD. Route 80 in NJ is a long climb. Thats my test hill. nipper
  5. gearing, and i truly do not belive it can climd a long uphill with the cruise control on and not need to downshift. Even blu needs to downshift. nipper
  6. I had a 1.8 with a stick. You had to get into third and sit in the right lane to get up any mountains of any kind. nipper
  7. So why not email them and tell them that? I did. nipper
  8. I think your asking for way too much from a little engine that looses alot of power to a sloppy torque converter and gearing. nipper
  9. i just used the contact us at www.subaru.com http://www.subaru.com/tools/contactus/index.jsp nipper
  10. Subaru slime is like chicken soup, it can't hurt. Call a dealer and see what they get for coolant. Sometimes they are competative with auto parts stores.
  11. Since we tend to yell at them alot, i figured i would email subaru a compliment about the commercial. Subaru's Response: Thank you for visiting the Subaru Web site and for your kind comments regarding our new commercial, which I will detail below even though you got the meaning of the commercial 'right on the head!!!!' The following is true in general. But, it is especially true when people contact us about our commercials: As you can imagine, many people tend to contact a company only when they are unhappy about a particular situation. We find that it takes a very special person to take the time to send a compliment about a product or service that has given such great satisfaction. Joe (yes now you all know my name and i must kill you-nipper)- you have made my day. Thank you very much for your time and comments, which by the way have been forwarded to our Marketing Department. Best wishes, John J. Mergen Subaru of America, Inc. Customer/Dealer Services Department
  12. I only change it if the pedal is soft, or when the brake pads get replaced myself. I put this with chainging PS fluid as purely profit driven item for the dealer myself, but if someone whats to change it in thier driveway, it doesnt hurt. nipper
  13. It probably swells up the bad seal. There is nothing sticking, we know what causes it. The question is how long will the elixer last. nipper
  14. Depneds upon the supplier, where the factory is located. To begin with the 2.5 DOHC will be longer and have differnt stresses then the SOHC engine. ALso have to look at pully configuration etc etc etc. Once again is the risk worth the expense. nipper
  15. i would think a 99 would work. If its dimensionally the same, everything located in the same place, and turns lock to lock the same, i would give it a shot. nipper
  16. Got a long wait, as Blu has 227,000 miles on him. US cars have a different pollution spec, and looks at the belt as integral to help keeping pollution down. Personally i would not recomend to anyone going beyond the recomended interval for thier car. If they choose to, its thier money, not mine. But the materials can be vastly different for the two belts, while looking the same. nipper
  17. Except that there is a pattern developing in the 1999-2000 transmissions with this problem, all with the same common fault. In this case subaru got screwed by a bad supplier. nipper
  18. http://www.straightdope.com/classics/a2_264a.html Dear Cecil: "Dishonest" is the opposite of "honest," right? So does that mean the opposite of "disgruntled" is "gruntled"? --D.J., Atlanta Cecil replies: You must have been a great trial to your mother, D. Dis- isn't always used to negate; sometimes it's an intensifier. "Gruntle" is an old dialect word meaning "to grumble." So "disgruntled" means you're really grumbling. There are times when I can definitely relate. --CECIL ADAMS i found a few of these where gruntled means grumpy
