i still think its alot of bunk, otherwise anyone who lives in a high density area could go after a shop for not properly breaking in a set of pads. For instance, where i live you have travel a good 5-9 miles to get to anywhere where you can do 60 mph (and i dont mean legally), let alone do hard stops without getting rear ended. What are most people supposed to do? Also I have yet to see an SAE paper on this (please feel free to show me is someone has one). My front one went at 187,000 miles. My rear went out last month 210,000 miles becuase it was physically broken. I was shocked as to how easy it came out. nipper -

Someplace on here somone made a custom one that lifted the back of the car. It kept everything in alighnment (no eating axles) and allowed for large tires. nipper

IAC job is to bump up the idle speed when the car gets a load at idle, like the AC or putting the car in gear. I may be wrong but thats the first place i would look. Maybe its dirty and sticking when cold. nipper

You are about the right time for the o2 sensor to go out (anything over 100,000 miles). (front one needs to be OE) Have the codes read by somone who does it for free, but usually an intermitene CEL is an o2 sensor. A flashing o2 light is a misfire. nipper -
And its something thats not uncommon to go bad on a auto tranny. nipper

I dont think its the lockup TC, unless the TCU is confused, or there is some failure of an internal valve. The TC never locks up in reverse, and its normal state is unlocked. The car only does this cold? If you let the car warm up it doesnt do it? What happens if you skip to N (hang out there for a second) then go into R or D. Scan the puter while its doing this, see what the scanner comes up with. I'm wondering if your IAC is flaky, as this is part of its job. nipper

You said to use small words :-p Have you thought of a mustach bar on the rear differential then longer springs ? It does allow for bigger tires and hence mmore ground clearance. nipper

This is one of two things (and its not unusual). Its either the pcv valve or the valve stem seals. It takes very little oil to make a hell of a lot of smoke. Mine did the same thing, but only on one ramp specifically. nipper

Im going for a radiator on this one. You are on the threshold of having a bigger problem i think. Of course check your altenator output and make sure your cooling fans work first. When its cool outside, the cooling fans dont need to come on as often, so the car cant get rid of all its heat. If you have two cooling fans (electric or otherwise) the 2nd one only comes on with the ac. When its hotter outside, the fans run more often, or are on all the time with the ac. There is a lot more air moving through the radiator. First thing i would do is physically remove the radiator and inspect the cooling fins. See if they are still there or are clogged. As long as you have it out, put the cap back on it and fill up the upper hose with water. the same amount of water should go out as goes in. If the Upper hose starts to overflow and the bottom has a poor flow, the radiator is clogged. you should also be able to feel the radiator being evenly cold (temp of the hose water). Frt Brakes

Well my brakes are done. It took me 3.5 hours yesterday. Keep in mind this id the first "real" work i've done on the car since my back surgeries. It should have taken me an hour . At least its done. New front rotors and ceramic pads from autzone (the better ones). I researched thme on the net and there was nothing bad about them. The pads would have failed inspection. One rotor practically fell off the car, the other put up a fight. I forgot how much liquid wrench is my freind. The caliper bolts were a PITA untill i soaked them in wrench and they came right off. I am impressed with the feel of the brakes now. I will never go back from ceramic pads. nipper -
older transmissions operate like an hydraulic computer. They are constantly balancing out throttle pressure (modulator) vs govenor pressure. Without either one of these the car wont shift properly. Check your govenor, it may be bad or stuck. nipper
