Have a question about the Crosstrek? Ask an owner!
I am begining to suspect (I had it once too on dry roads fully loaded with top soil, rough spot of highway) that maybe the cars need to have the rear wheels aligned with some dead weight in them, since this is when it seems to show up.

Can PCV be replaced in cold weather
nipper replied to shortlid's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXHair dryier isnt a heat soak, its a spot heat and you can burn yourself or melt the rubber easily. STarting it may be best, but better wold be drive it and let it cool down then attack it.

The Broken Key Hurdle Please Help!
nipper replied to johnnyispy's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThat would only get you in the car, and not necessarily start the car. Some cars use only a few of the tumblers on the lock cylinder for the dorr, and others for the ignition cylinder. Some use all of them. I am not sure which one it is. When I lost the keys for the Justy (89) it cost me 50.00 (AAA membership) which was extra fee and big tip as they guy was really nice. He made me two keys. It was a bit disconcerting that he could make fuly functioning keys in 20 minutes. On the justy some tumblers worked the doors, some worked the ignition switch.

The Broken Key Hurdle Please Help!
nipper replied to johnnyispy's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXCouple of suggestions a AAA membership. Before each winter treat the door locks with a graphite lock lubricant Hold the key in your hand for a minute before attempting to unlock a door or hatch cylinder. Good luck, dont freeze

The Broken Key Hurdle Please Help!
nipper replied to johnnyispy's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXKeep after a locksmith. Try AAA even if you are not a member they can recomend a lock smith. You will still have to pay for the call, but it will solve the problem.

Have a question about the Crosstrek? Ask an owner!
I have an older Subaru CVT and it took me a year to figure out how to hit the numbers. It will be different on your four from my three, but I found I get the best city mileage by finding the sweet spot in the engine RPM and letting the transmission do the work from there. The same goes with the highway. If you slightly back off the gas pedal while getting on the highway the transmission may upshift (for lack of a better word) the car will still pull. It takes some time to get used to letting the transmission do more of the work instead of the engine.

Can PCV be replaced in cold weather
nipper replied to shortlid's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI would wait for the weather to warm up. The rubber will not be pliable at that temp.

Air shocks on a 78 brat...
On the front, no. Struts are different the shocks. You can really pump up the shocks, but then they wouldnt be shocks, and you also have a good chance of snapping something if you hit a bump. Shocks arent meant to support weight, springs are. Shocks stop the continous bounce of the springs (to put it simply). Your front strauts are shot if they have no give, whichnot only can make for a horrible ride, but can shake things apart, and cause safety issues.

1997 outback still runs hot after new headgaskets. please help
nipper replied to mihrcke's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXAlways fill a cooling system with th car running, it greatly reduces or gets rid of the chance of an air bubble in the cooling system. Keep topping it off untill the T-stat opens, then top off some more, replace the cap (you are using a new cap correct?) and drive and let it cool down. Check levels, repeat once as needed. That should take care of it.

Disposing of used antifreeze
nipper replied to Rooster2's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXCall your local municipality. Some places you can pour it down the drain, other places you have to wait for annual hazardous home waste collection. Nevr dispose of it in the ground.

I think I will just put this here
nipper replied to nipper's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWell the military has said it wants a hybrid as it's next jeep like truck for the ability of silent running, so i think no matter who they choose they will be pricey.

2006 Tribeca Backup Fuse keeps blowing...
nipper replied to JKinPA's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI am going to assume it is the reverse lights. Are the lights located in the tailgate? If so see if the harness is chaffed that goes from the body to the tailgate.

Intermittent rough idle

Intermittent rough idle
nipper replied to provin1327's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI see nothing about starting off with a tune-up. Wires, plugs, PCV valve. How many miles? I am going to assume no CEL, so at this age yes it can be a tired idle air motor.
