hrmmm normally i would side with the last forever (in car terms) answer, but you are really up there in mileage. It really depends upon what work had been done the forst time around. Also another question is either time had the engine been really cooked? When you get up high in mileage, there are other factors that can come in the picture. So... Exaclty what work was done the first time, and who did the work, and what parts were used. nipper

SVX Don't Stop
nipper replied to ecky's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX
First test the booster. With the car off pump the pedal ten times. Then put your foot on the brake and start the car. The pedal should move to the floor. If it does then its the master cylinder. nipper -

The viscous coupling is differnt. Its AWD but its not. As long as all 4 wheels are moving at the same speed, the power goes to the front in a subaru. The moment the axles turn at differnt speeds power starts getting distrubuted to the rear. I posted an explination here on how the subaru manual tranny AWD works (that one has the viscous coupling). i think it was in the off topic ill try to find it. nipper

Ideally, the perfectlly balanced car treats all four wheels equally. It also has a 50/50 weight balance, and the center of gravity is low and as close to the center of the car as possible. AWD allows for all 4 wheels to be treated equally. If you really want to know the differnce, find a buddy with a late 90's AQD subaru. Take it out for a drive, then place the FWD in the holder under the hood and dirve it again (including hard acceleration from a dead stop in both a straight line and while turning). You will then see the differnce. nipper

Well lets do the obvious, check the lubricant. Clicking? check the driveshafts and the axles. Did you break your new car already? nipper -
Sick of replacing CD-Players
nipper replied to Mysticcal's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
does the gap bother you? You can mount a cd player someplace else in the car, like the glove box. nipper
