  1. red oil is palm oil + menthol
  2. make sure you aren't draining the AT fluid (is your's at or mt?) check twice f'up once
  3. Only happens after severe weather or if inside very damp garage.
  4. Damp weather rough running until warm. Cyl 3 fault code. Switched wires and fault stayed at cyl 3 so I'm supposing bad coil. Advance Auto has a few options: Thoughts? Carquest $85 Beck/Arnley $96 NGK $120 25% coupon code RMN5 saves a few additional bucks
  5. Wow, that video would seem to indicate that you might get codes reading adjacent cylinders. any thoughts of oem or aftermarket (specify brand if you like) for a replacement? as I said I have already swapped wires and the code fault stayed with the cylinder so the wires would seem to be OK.
  6. or insurance purposes?? Just ran into Moosens and noticed that he had 2 driveshafts in the rear of his pickup. I asked if they were for 2001 but no, I don't think they were even 90s vintage. who here (besides Moosens) drives around with not one but two Subie driveshafts "just in case?"
  7. P0303 is Baaaack! I swapped cylinder 1 and 3 wires a few months ago but the code doesn't follow the wires. Still showing cylinder #3. Was pretty cool and rainy around here for a few days then popped over 90 today. The garage was dripping with condensation. Ran rough until I opened the hood outdoors and let the humidity settle down. Coil? If coil it is, any opinions on decent aftermarket or any ole one'll do?
  8. All gone on CL except a set of original floor mats front and back. FYI the cargo rubber mat was tan, the cargo top coverage was black. The floor mats are a little soiled but hey free is good. Come an get 'em. Your's for the asking.
  9. found it Posted April 11, 2020 (edited) I bought a reman unit for my 05 and all is well. I will try and find the invoice and update post. Found it: Partsgeek.com for around $250 There are always $15 coupons floating around. Let me know if you need one. They are always bombing my mailbox. 1 2005 Subaru Outback Driveshaft Brand A1 Cardone SKU 65-7001 Tracking Number 358507715197109 Shipped with FedEx on Aug 06, 2018 Re-orderReview Product Qty Ordered 1 Qty Shipped 1 Price $241.98 Core $20.00 Looks like the prices have jumped in the past 3 years YIKES its now at $338 for the same part. I would probably still go the cheapest route. They either work or not.
  10. I bought a replacement for ~$200 for my 05 OB and may have posted the source. I'll noodle back through my history and check... stay tuned. Sold the car recently and pitched all the paperwork. It was either through RockAuto, Parts Geek or Carparts.com I likely went for the cheapest one figuring they would either work or not and the car already was approaching 200K. The local rebuilders wanted nothing to do with this shaft here in CT.
  11. I'll pile on with the obvious: wheel balance, bad tires. But, if you've checked everything else... check play in the drive shaft? It's more of a rumble though in my experience. Model, year and especially mileage might help in the diagnosis.
  12. From 1 Nipper to another... the 1-2-3 option shows up when HD is selected. They are substations. If you have issues with poor signal, disable HD is suggested.
  13. BTW, if you have a PepBoys near you, there is currently a full rebate ($29.99 less $30 mail in rebate) on 5 quart jug of Rotella oil. Various grades, its marketed as truck and suv but hey it's oil and spec'd properly. limit 2 per household. That $70 sounds pretty harsh.
  14. get alternator checked by reputable auto store if going bad they can put on a light show
  15. ordered it through Amazon $5.49 delivered Home Depot has same price but Amazon will deliver it... yesterday ;-)
  16. Looked in the stickies but can I have a show of hands for best oil filter for my 08 OB? Subaru vs Wix or other suggestions? Seems like there should be a Best Of section in the stickies that can be updated by members. Filters, TB kits etc.
  17. TSB 07-179-20 This bulletin announces a design change made to the PRG control module. This change is in response to a limited number of customer concerns regarding the vehicle’s battery becoming discharged after the rear gate is left open for an extended period of time. The discharge occurs because current PRG control module logic keeps CAN communication active. Logic changes have been incorporated into the new module to allow the CAN system to “go to sleep” after a period of time to prevent current draw and optimize operation of the PRG system.
  18. didn't have a new one on hand had lithium spray grease on hand took the easy way out
  19. Yes and No? Probably due for yet another Free Lifetime Warranty replacement after a few days. If not today then surely down the road.
