EA82T to EA82C conversion
TheSubaruJunkie replied to torxxx's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Rob is right. All you gotta do is swap blocks. But, if you do that, you'll need to spend money on a new head gasket kit at the least... -Brian -
I dont want anything that big. That 1st photo was just for fun. There is a RX on CL right now, and AA lifts seem to be ready overnight. Problem is ballancing my bills and trying to get another wheeler going. Wish i had money to throw around on Toyotas and Impreza's -Brian

EA82 and EA82T: Whats the difference??
TheSubaruJunkie replied to 87RX's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Core Differences are Pistons and Turbo. EA82T: Has a turbocharger, lower compression pistons. 7.7:1 C.R EA82: No Turbo, flat pistons. 9.5:1 C.R Turbo's are all MPFI. Non-Turbo's came as MPFI, SPFI & Carbbed. -Brian -
I maybe able to get another RX. Needs motor work so thinking of making it a N/A MPFI and doin this: Figure, since its already got the locked rear... and i wont have to worry about swapping rear disc brakes or anything. Too bad the low sucks, but maybe the motor will make up for it? -Brian

Sparks Yard Run
TheSubaruJunkie replied to NV Zeno's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Dave, i was thinking of heading up there monday. Im gonna be in town helping JB. And JB if you get this, send me a IM! -Brian -
I drilled a hole and added a T comming out of the elbow leading to my intake. Its some sort of threaded coupler, 3/4" i believe. Once I had it threaded flush with the inside of the pipe, i had it welded in place and cut it down so it didnt stick out so far. Here it is in action: Soon im going to do the same thing, but with a 1 or 1.25" piece for my Bypass valve. -Brian

Bay Area Meet... Early May?
TheSubaruJunkie replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Damn, guess i better get something going. Now that my car is intercooled again, its doing 100x better and Im sure we could setup something for the bay. I keep promising Jibs i'd come help him, as soon as thats done we can do something. -Brian -
The filter i got right now came with my EA82 adapter. Its some generic cone filter, and its LONG overdue for replacement. I went to Kragen and got some piece made by APC. It fit, but under close examination it looks like its only a sponge type filter, and there is no paper element at all. I hardly trust this thing, but I am going to leave it on until I can find a respectable replacement. So, with that being said... ANyone know of a good cone filter that fits on our Adapters? -Brian

Engine: Saab 900 Intercooler N/A 9.5:1 pistons and block. Magnacore 8mm racing wires Manual Boost controller. Cause of the high comp pistons, i run no more than 6psi. Pollished my intake and exhaust ports. 2.5" custom exhaust Exterior: KYB GR2 struts front and rear. Front Struts from 2WD XT with 2" drop. Stock RX Springs 195/50R13's -Brian -
Looks like its already ready for a paint job!! Definatly a good score for $150. Now slap a lift and tires and you have a ready to run wheeler for under a grand. Wish i could find a deal like that around here. -Brian

Step-by-Step Head Removal EA82 Turbo
TheSubaruJunkie replied to Pooparu's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Its much easier to pull the motor and remove the heads than It would be to attempt while the engine is in the car. -Brian
