  1. Did you have to install the distributor when you put your block in? How about your timing belts, did you mess with those at all? -Brian
  2. Yes, backup regularly. Burn all those Photo's to a CD or 2...keep one onsite, and the irreplacable ones keep at a friends (incase, god forbid, the house burns down or something). Which reminds me, i have 8gb of MP3's i need to backup before my HDD fails. -Brian
  3. Uhm... what mod? They look like subie gauges. And whats a V1? -Brian
  4. I have no problem with it. May work out better for me... i can do some work on the car earlier in the day (if it still needs it) and maybe head out the night before... or at least get a good nights rest for the early drive up there. -Brian
  5. If you lifted the engine higher, you would be lifting the tranny as well... the CV's wont like that for long. If you went with a custom pan, just use the dipstick to measure when its full. The oil pickup tube requires a certrain level, so as long as its good ont he dipstick it should be fine. -Brian
  6. It would be best to get Noah's. I wanna keep mine for my next wheeler. -Brian
  7. Ive never worked on a EA81 that had a swaybar up front. No swaybar: Are you talking about this guy here? -Brian
  8. If the VIN does work, im gonna start looking in the windshield of all the Subarus i see Then im gonna get keys cut for em. -Brian p.s. only joking, thats probably why they hide the code on the lock assembly.
  9. Unless you installed one... there is no sway bar. EA81s didnt come with them. The tires look great tho, i bet they were great in the snow! -Brian
  10. I was sitting at a red light, waiting to turn left. Next to me, to the right, was a Corvette waiting to turn as well. I figured i'd beat him off the line and then i can tell everyone "ha ha, i smoked a Corvette in my 1983 Subaru Wagon". Well, i already had the steering wheel cranked to the left, and I dumped the clutch at 3 grand.... needless to say, the corvette smoked me. -Brian
  11. Got one but shipping would kill you. PM me if your really interested. -Brian
  12. SUUUUUURE! Welcome back.... they all come back. -Brian
  13. I was wondering this myself. Only Hatch's i can find in this area are 2WD, which doesnt bother me since I have a complete 4WD parts car, including 3" lift. Only part of the 4WD conversion I dont have is a 4WD Hatch tank, but with the 3" lift I wasnt sure if it mattered. Would be sweet if you could pull this off! -Brian
  14. I like that paint you have, sucks about the rust. Im spoiled living in California... not a spec of rust on it. Where did you get that scoop? -Brian
  15. Wierd cause i had to re-download the .pdf after i lost it in a format. Worked fine for me. I also downloaded it at work so I can print some stuff... worked there too. -Brian
  16. Wouldnt pay $650 for it even if he hadnt dropped it from 10'. -Brian
  17. Uhm... thats JUST a turbo. No "pipes". You will need a new exhaust. You'll need the EA82T Up Pipe and then a Down Pipe. You'll also need the passenger side head with the oil lines for the turbo, and you'll need the coolant lines as well. You can get away with using your stock pistons, but you wont be running much boost. Oh, and the engine crossmember from a EA82T will also need to be used. Dont forget about your air intake, and the piping required from the turbo to the intake manifold. Oh... and if your going to do all this with the stock pistons, i'd highly recommend installing an intercooler as well. -Brian
  18. Cause theres no need to pull the tranny, that would add a bunch more time to the job. I goto Napa for most my parts. -Brian
  19. No, your wrong caleb. Your car has to run to be loud Sorry Russ, i have no room to talk -Brian
  20. Ive never heard that before about CV's. Often times I find myself replacing one a couple times, while the other remains good the entire time. If the oil in the crank case is the same color, then i would suspect the head gaskets. Its not hard to pull your engine, just remove the radator.. then find the 4 bolts that hold your engine to the transmission. Remove those, then unbolt the engine mounts from the crossmember. Use a hoist or 2 friends and pull the engine (try for a hoist 1st). Head gaskets arent that hard to do once the engine is out. You'll want to get new intake manifold gaskets and maybe new exhaust gaskets along the head gaskets. Oil pan gasket is a good idea since your down there anyhow. -Brian
  21. is it carburated? SPFI or MPFI? If its SPFI then it wont take much to isntall the turbo. If its a carbed EA82 i wouldnt waste the time. -Brian
  22. Yeah Jeremy... my goal is to have the RX dialed in before the 1st so I can make it. I'd like to take the wagon, so I'll be leaving the RX at Jibs and swapping there. -Brian
  23. Yeah i would check the PCV system 1st. Also, drain the oil and see if the crankcase has frothy or milky oil in it. If its just under the air cleaner it could be a mixture of oil blowby and condensation. A compression test would be the final verdict. -Brian
  24. Two engines were offered in 1987. The EA81 and the EA82. take a look at the front of your engine and you'll see one of those 2 codes stamped into it. Let us know what it is if you want more help. -Brian
