  1. Got the dreaded DMV envelope in the mail today. Registration on the RX is almost up, and I was almost too affraid to open the letter. Almost certain its smog year was up, but to my relief all they need is proof of insurance and $54 for one more year of legal RX driving -Brian
  2. Anyone know the part numbers, napa part numbers, for a clutch disk and throwout bearing on a EA82T? Also, those little hollow bolts that thread the coolant lines into the turbo? With crush washers i hope. Im hoping WJM or someone has replaced them enough times to have numbers memorized -Brian
  3. Hey dude. I was in the garage today finishing up my motor. While bolting on the oil pan, i noticed all my heads had holes in them too!! OH NO I think they're supposed to be there: -Brian
  4. Yup, i got a screenshot of it from the DVD collection i have: -Brian
  5. I often thought to myself "hey, if I keep reving my engine to 5 grand its going to blow up" but out of 12 subarus that ive owned, the only thing to have blown up a motor was running it w/out oil. Never had an engine fail due to over revving, but you are right. It probably does decrease the life of the motor from 500,000 miles to around 300,000 miles -Brian
  6. Yeah, why would you want to shift BEFORE 4grand? THats when the power turns on. -Brian
  7. Just get a $50 jobbie from walmart. I have one portable plastic unit I carry around. Sure it takes a couple minutes to go from 15 to 30psi, but you cant expect much if you buy a cheap unit. The $200+ units are what you are looking for, maybe keep an eye on ebay and score a deal on used one. -Brian
  8. He has stock 13" steel rims, painted black with chrome beauty rings. Yes, a very sharp brat indeed! -Brian
  9. Lights look great, but I dont think the deflector works on that brat. -Brian
  10. Ahhh... i see now. Yes, very ingenious but im not sure how Subaru will like us using both their logos. -Brian
  11. Im pissed too. I let my subscription run out cause i was tired of reading about how to tweak my impreza... Now all of a sudden they got old school everywhere Thanks Alot. -Brian
  12. Wow... is the link for the search feature broken? This seems like one of the most popular topics today on this board. Lets start from scratch eh'.... #1 mod, prolly the 1st thing you should do... intercool it! Saab 900 Intercoolers work great as the inlet and outlet are the same diameter as the EA82T Throttle Body. WRX TMIC's work too, more fabrication is involved. Other than that... ANY intercooler can be made to work, they all do the same thing. #2... BOV. Dont use one. Use a BPV (byPASS Valve) which directs the blown off air back into your intake, post MAF/pre turbo. A BOV will confuse your MAF and the ECU and you'll have a rich condition after every shift. #3... more boost. Check ebay for Manual Boost Controllers. You can search google and make one... but I spent $50 on a GFB MBC and it works 100x better than the homeade jobbie i got. #4... Pistons, high compression block. Its been done before. Im in the process of doing it. there's plenty of info on this board from others who have done it as well. Search topics by Calebz, WJM, JWX. Those are a few people that have run high-comp blocks on their EA82T. 150hp can prolly be had if you intercooled and boosted your EA82T. -Brian
  13. Is this tool required to do the timing belts? I havent gotten that far in my engine build yet, but not quite sure what that tool would be used for. I see it in the FSM and all... but maybe im missing something. Thats a good idea, i shoulda grabbed an extra cam sprocket from the JY. -Brian
  14. Copy that.... how about the Subaru font I'll try that when i return home from work. -Brian
  15. Rob have any suggestions on a font? What kinda look are you going for? -Brian
  16. Let me talk to a dude at work. He races for the SCCA and yes, your right... your cage must be certified or else it'd be a complete waste of time and tube. I'll see if he has anyone local he knows that is certified to install cages for rally use. -Brian
  17. Think of it this way john... any of those kits are gonna be 10000x better than the 20yr old gasket and crap thats in that hitachi right now. You dont need anything state of the art, just as long as its a complete kit. Take your time, and make sure everything seals properly and you'll be fine. -Brian
  18. Definatly good news. That place was too good to be true, let alone shut down. I do hope we can have another WCSS there, part 3 has yet to be beat (in my eyes). -Brian
  19. Me either, it was something i put together for Brad (subaru_styles)... he didnt like it either. I will mess with fonts later and come up with some other options. Right now, my computer needs some work done to it. -Brian
  20. I was planning on driving up there and then taking the wagon. But now, the jeep has no stereo... and a 2hr drive in the jeep is bad enough, remove the stereo and i believe thats what hell is like. -Brian
