  1. Yeah its been so long since Ive driven my car, i cant even remember how loud it is. Its got a 2.5" exhaust, no muffler. Stock downpipe and the only thing keeping it quiet are the 2 cats. -Brian
  2. Ive already replaced the coolant hoses that lead to the turbo. And no, i wasnt planning on cleaning it up anymore than it already is. I will put the tbelt covers back on before it goes in. -Brian
  3. its workin for me. ANyone else having problems with the pix? -Brian
  4. Yeah, i was just thinking of that. Im going to remove those washers and revert the wastegate to original position. We have a drawer full of different size springs at work... i may have to get a couple and try LPG's idea. -Brian
  5. Alittle at a time, the motor for my RX is slowly comming together. Today I spent a couple hours in the garage putting a new clutch and pressure plate on it today. Also installed the distributor and the up-pipe. Here are a couple photo's so far: I'd like to do some work to the coolant lines that supply the turbo. The rubber section looks alittle weak, and the shielding that was on there before is mangled. Next step after the turbo is to drop the block in and then button up the intake manifold and start on the pipe for the intake/intercooler. Cant wait to finally get it on the road again. -Brian
  6. Ah skip, i believe your right. This is the idea i had. While looking at the wastegate setup, i thought instead of modifying the arm, i'd modify the mounting of the wastegate. So I removed the 2 bolts that hold the wastegate to the turbo, found longer bolts and put some washers between the two. key is, its something thats easy to return to stock. I my old turbo as well, along with its wastegate, so maybe I will pull that off and fiddle with the spring inside. -Brian
  7. Wow, ive never seen that book before. I bet that is pretty rare. I love how the wagon in that book has a big obnoxious brush guard on it! I bet that book was only offered overseas, probably not here in the US. A PDF would be nice if possible, i'd like to read what that book has to say about wheelin your sube. -Brian
  8. I had an easier idea. I just want to make it longer, I will use my Manual Boost Controller to make stock and more than stock boost, but since Im going with higher compression pistons, I wanna be able to turn down the boost to just above 2 to 3psi if possible. Got pix of my mod, will post them soon. -Brian
  9. I have an idea. Just to make sure im going to do this right. In order to run LESS than 7psi (stock EA82 boost) i need to lengthen the arm on the wastegate.... right? -Brian
  10. I'd pay the $20. Cheapest I can find in town is $10 a tire, and i usually have to pay 2 or 3 times cause his ballancing machine SUCKS. I found another guy that will do it for $15 a tire and he's usually really good. But $20 isnt bad, expecially if they have a good ballancing machine. Tires that big are gonna be a pain in the rump roast to keep ballanced. -Brian
  11. mugs sweet! And if noah and tex are doin it this is gonna be great. Can we get some massive mugs like WCSS6? -Brian
  12. The hoodscoop doesnt look right, and either do those headlights. -Brian
  13. Looked like an awesome trip Russ! You think maybe your cars up for a trip to the WCSS this year? Might have a pretty nice caravan if Buddy and Bacon go too. -Brian
  14. Do a quick search here on the USMB for the HTKYSA book. That alone will give you a wealth of knowledge. A basic set of metric tools, like wrenches and a wratchet with a set of sockets, will go a long way with these cars. Only special tools you may need would be the 36mm socket for CV joints, and theres a funky socket you need for brake jobs. If your not affraid of bloody knuckles, and a couple nights of swearing and getting filthy, then you should survive -Brian
  15. Something about that picture sais photoshop. I'd like to see some more if there are any available. -Brian
  16. Yeah, bedliner worked great, keeps things from sliding around when they are in the rack as well. -Brian
  17. This one isnt turbo, its a carburated Justy. But I didnt think they had RS's. -Brian
  18. I got my rack made by a friend in Oregon. He did my front bumper too. He sent it to me raw metal, and i used primer and a can of bedliner to make it last forever. Here's the rack with its last coat of liner: And here it is mounted, with lights: I have alot more pictures of the rack and the bumper too here: http://gallery.usmb.net/album13 -Brian
  19. No its just fine JB. Its better to have wire thats too large than wire thats too small. The larger wire will provide less resistance anyhow, use it and i'll work just fine -Brian
  20. Nope, they are non-interference engines. -Brian
  21. Book sais something like 46lbs but i was recently told by a trained subaru certified tech that torquing them at 52lbs saves you from having to retorque later. Of course you have to do it in steps, dont just start off at 46 or 52lbs. i think you want to do 17lbs, then 30 something, then 46. And theres a special pattern as well. The owners manual has all the info you need. -Brian
  22. Saab 900 intercoolers are perfect. the inlet and outlet are the same diameter as any EA82 throttlebody. They are alittle on the small side, but mount really nicely. -Brian
  23. The idiot at Napa couldnt find NGK plugs for a Subaru, and I dont have the old plugs anylonger. Does anyone have NGKs part number? Thanks -Brian
  24. Dont worry about it. Condensation builds on the cap, and thats where it is most apparent. Clean it off and check it again in a few weeks. I wouldnt worry until the oil comming from the pan looks like that. -Brian
