  1. When i had the engine in the air and bolted the mounts on, i test fit both to make sure I couldnt put the left mount on the right side by mistake. And you cant... they are made so they fit on the correct side. However, they can be installed backwards and look right :-\ Instead of removing the motor from the transmission and pulling it out... i just used the hoist and lifted it as high as i could... then spent about 90 minutes removing the engine mount and re-installing it. It was a pain in the rump roast... but its all over with now. -Brian
  2. I guess it helps if you have the mounts on correctly. D'OH! Had the drivers side mount on backwards. Fixed! Motors in. -Brian
  3. ok i'll go try that. The tranny's mounts are attatched to the tranny crossmember. i cant get to the passenger side tranny mount cause the stupid downpipe is in my way. I may have to disconnect that from the motor to get to the tranny mounts. -Brian
  4. Ok Ken... i dont see any upper trans mounts anywhere. I loosened all the main mounting points down below, and felt around best I could... but nothing up top. Seems like its pivoting on something back there though, but i cant see anything or feel anything. The valve cover keeps hitting the master cylinder when i rock the engine, cant get the mount any closer to the hole though. And now my back is killing me. -Brian
  5. STUPID ENGINE! Got the passenger side mount to go right into the hole in the XMember.... but the drivers side of the engine wont move back far enough. Ive been dickin with this thing for the past 2 hours. It seems like the Valve Cover on the drivers side is hitting the master cylinder and not allowing the engine to move back far enough... so i moved the block over to clear the master cylinder but I cant seem to get the block to move back. Its like an inch off, and no matter what i do the damn thing wont line up. Anyone have any trix up their sleeves? -Brian
  6. I did... how do you think it got as clean as it is now??? Im out of time, the rest of the time i have is devoted to getting this thing running again. Im not out to win any awards, or else I'd be like Brad painting everything blue and yellow... just to watch it blow up and get all my pretty paint covered in oil all over again. -Brian
  7. Yeah its been so long since Ive driven my car, i cant even remember how loud it is. Its got a 2.5" exhaust, no muffler. Stock downpipe and the only thing keeping it quiet are the 2 cats. -Brian
  8. Ive already replaced the coolant hoses that lead to the turbo. And no, i wasnt planning on cleaning it up anymore than it already is. I will put the tbelt covers back on before it goes in. -Brian
  9. its workin for me. ANyone else having problems with the pix? -Brian
  10. Yeah, i was just thinking of that. Im going to remove those washers and revert the wastegate to original position. We have a drawer full of different size springs at work... i may have to get a couple and try LPG's idea. -Brian
  11. Alittle at a time, the motor for my RX is slowly comming together. Today I spent a couple hours in the garage putting a new clutch and pressure plate on it today. Also installed the distributor and the up-pipe. Here are a couple photo's so far: I'd like to do some work to the coolant lines that supply the turbo. The rubber section looks alittle weak, and the shielding that was on there before is mangled. Next step after the turbo is to drop the block in and then button up the intake manifold and start on the pipe for the intake/intercooler. Cant wait to finally get it on the road again. -Brian
  12. Ah skip, i believe your right. This is the idea i had. While looking at the wastegate setup, i thought instead of modifying the arm, i'd modify the mounting of the wastegate. So I removed the 2 bolts that hold the wastegate to the turbo, found longer bolts and put some washers between the two. key is, its something thats easy to return to stock. I my old turbo as well, along with its wastegate, so maybe I will pull that off and fiddle with the spring inside. -Brian
  13. Wow, ive never seen that book before. I bet that is pretty rare. I love how the wagon in that book has a big obnoxious brush guard on it! I bet that book was only offered overseas, probably not here in the US. A PDF would be nice if possible, i'd like to read what that book has to say about wheelin your sube. -Brian
  14. I had an easier idea. I just want to make it longer, I will use my Manual Boost Controller to make stock and more than stock boost, but since Im going with higher compression pistons, I wanna be able to turn down the boost to just above 2 to 3psi if possible. Got pix of my mod, will post them soon. -Brian
  15. I have an idea. Just to make sure im going to do this right. In order to run LESS than 7psi (stock EA82 boost) i need to lengthen the arm on the wastegate.... right? -Brian
  16. I'd pay the $20. Cheapest I can find in town is $10 a tire, and i usually have to pay 2 or 3 times cause his ballancing machine SUCKS. I found another guy that will do it for $15 a tire and he's usually really good. But $20 isnt bad, expecially if they have a good ballancing machine. Tires that big are gonna be a pain in the rump roast to keep ballanced. -Brian
  17. mugs sweet! And if noah and tex are doin it this is gonna be great. Can we get some massive mugs like WCSS6? -Brian
  18. The hoodscoop doesnt look right, and either do those headlights. -Brian
  19. Looked like an awesome trip Russ! You think maybe your cars up for a trip to the WCSS this year? Might have a pretty nice caravan if Buddy and Bacon go too. -Brian
  20. Do a quick search here on the USMB for the HTKYSA book. That alone will give you a wealth of knowledge. A basic set of metric tools, like wrenches and a wratchet with a set of sockets, will go a long way with these cars. Only special tools you may need would be the 36mm socket for CV joints, and theres a funky socket you need for brake jobs. If your not affraid of bloody knuckles, and a couple nights of swearing and getting filthy, then you should survive -Brian
  21. Something about that picture sais photoshop. I'd like to see some more if there are any available. -Brian
  22. Yeah, bedliner worked great, keeps things from sliding around when they are in the rack as well. -Brian
  23. This one isnt turbo, its a carburated Justy. But I didnt think they had RS's. -Brian
