  1. I got my rack made by a friend in Oregon. He did my front bumper too. He sent it to me raw metal, and i used primer and a can of bedliner to make it last forever. Here's the rack with its last coat of liner: And here it is mounted, with lights: I have alot more pictures of the rack and the bumper too here: http://gallery.usmb.net/album13 -Brian
  2. No its just fine JB. Its better to have wire thats too large than wire thats too small. The larger wire will provide less resistance anyhow, use it and i'll work just fine -Brian
  3. Book sais something like 46lbs but i was recently told by a trained subaru certified tech that torquing them at 52lbs saves you from having to retorque later. Of course you have to do it in steps, dont just start off at 46 or 52lbs. i think you want to do 17lbs, then 30 something, then 46. And theres a special pattern as well. The owners manual has all the info you need. -Brian
  4. Saab 900 intercoolers are perfect. the inlet and outlet are the same diameter as any EA82 throttlebody. They are alittle on the small side, but mount really nicely. -Brian
  5. The idiot at Napa couldnt find NGK plugs for a Subaru, and I dont have the old plugs anylonger. Does anyone have NGKs part number? Thanks -Brian
  6. Dont worry about it. Condensation builds on the cap, and thats where it is most apparent. Clean it off and check it again in a few weeks. I wouldnt worry until the oil comming from the pan looks like that. -Brian
  7. Right, but which terminal is that? I see a mark on the gear, and a flat spot on the bottom of the disty, kinda like a point. The mark on the gear is between the pin that holds it to the shaft... its like a dimple in the gear, I assume im to line that up with the mark on the shaft? -Brian
  8. Im reading Miles Fox's writeup on the EA82 Timing Belt installation, http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=50768 I've gotten the belts on, and now its time to put the disty back in. The Writeup mentions to turn the crank until the flywheel is at 0, and then install the disty. But, which position does the disty need to be in? On the EA81 there was a mark on the disty gear, and the shaft that had to be lined up... is the EA82 the same way? -Brian
  9. Definatly! I better have the RX Done by then... if so, im in for sure. -Brian
  10. Sounds like they already did replace everything. Just disconnect the hill holder cable from the clutch fork. -Brian
  11. Wow reddevil. That FMIC looks great. Will we see it again at this years WCSS? -Brian
  12. Supply power to the 2 wires, and put the end of the hose in some water or fuel. If it spits out the other end, the pump is working. -Brian
  13. No matter how tight you may have got it, go back and check them in a week or so. They light to loosen up sometimes. I use the stand on 3' breaker bar trick too, works great every time. -Brian
  14. Oh, i'd also like to point out that this is a daily swap for our mates overseas in Australia. If your really thinkin of going through with this, do a search on Google for the Backyard Boys Subaru board. Should be able to find alot of info there. Im serious about the brakes. I'd be a good idea to do the 5spd swap, xt6 brakes should be fine, much better than EA82 brakes by far... and i believe you are able to use some legacy or impreza parts on the suspension, which opens the window to plenty of strut/spring options. SubaruTex is the guy to talk to about that. -Brian
  15. If your not gonna work on brakes, then DO NOT PUT 250HP in your EA82!!!! Stopping is more important than going fast. And yes... do the WRX tranny too, or you will be going through tranny's like tissue paper. -Brian
  16. I got one of those off ebay too. WHen i got it, i opened it and noticed the A pillar on the body was broken... both left and right SO i never took the time to build it. I also got a Gen1 brat off ebay and thats just sitting in the box too. Partially built. I should put them back on ebay -Brian
  17. Wow... are you guys talking about car registration for yearly tags? Or what? LOL I think they base most the cost of the registration on the value of your car. My car has a salvage title, and even tho I paid $1000 for it, i put $125 on the title when i transfered ownership. Im just happy I dont have to smog the damn thing... i dont care how much California wants out of me... as long as i dont have to put the RX on another sniffer. I doubt its ever gonna pass again. -Brian
