  1. Sounds kinda like the TO bearing/clutch fork is hanging up.. Did you clean off the shaft and grease everything up really well?
  2. The hobbit trail is a little more than a stock soob can handle. definitely worth the trip if you can ride with someone though
  3. Perhaps a good therapist can help you overcome that:grin: Maybe if you moved a little further away from san francisco, you would stop running into all those 'rear end goblins' Sorry, I couldn't resist. back on topic.. The only way you are going to be abnle to pinpoint whats loose, is be getting under the car and wiggling every joint, nut and bolt in the rear of the car. Remember , just because its new doesn't mean its good! Good luck
  4. Rick, Thanks for the education on the various distys. thats the kinda info that helps everyone. I didn't suffer from all the potential problems when I did mine. Being an ea82T(87+), they're all the same.. no need to worry about vacuum advance variances.. theres no vac advance.. just plug and play.
  5. Not to say that anyone is wrong, But I don't see why you would need a timing light to replace your disty.. Just mark the position of the rotor somewhere on the metal surrounding the disty. them fine tune by ear. very little tuning should be required if your disty goes back in the same place it came out from.. I recently replaced my disty by this method.. took about 10 minutes and I was on the road..
  6. Just at a glance, I would say that the red hatch is Qman's, and the other one is MudRat's
  7. Yup. its internal. Having troubles? Lemme guess.. its charging at 18 volts...
  8. I feel ya man.. 27 years in Washington.. now here in the flat lands of North Texas.. not a muddy tree lined trail to be found. Cool story . I hope you find someone to wheel with.
  9. Generic O2 sensor from autozone=$30 seems to work ok.. Haven't stuck an AF meter on there, but haven't had any operational trouble.
  10. Ignition relay maybe? thats just a guess.. try a hotwire(or one of those nifty external pushbutton starter things) from the battery to the little tab on the solenoid and see what happens.
  11. Who is that driving Ken's hatch.?. Well, I suppose it could be ken.. I hear that when no one is around he really likes that pretty purple color in the picture. PS.. Don't beat me Ken.. was just kidding.
  12. Sorry meeky I just gotta poke a little fun at you.. Didn't your old T-wagon start overheating just before you retired it? Then the hatch blew a headgasket and hat cooling problems.. Now the RX has become the Hot Mobile.. Sorry, no harm intended.. just a little good natured ribbing. Get yourself a CCR motor, be nice to it and it will outlast you..
  13. I wouldn't pay more than %70 of book for a reconstructed/salvage title car. Your resale will be crap. Depending on how well the body/subframe parts were damaged and how well they were repaired, crumple zones will not work as effectively. I have owned a few salvage title cars. its a gamble, often a good gamble, but if the seller wants anywhere near book price for the car, he shouldn't be selling one with a crap title. If you are going to pay that much, go down to Joe Bob's used cars and buy one that hasn't been wrecked.
  14. Too cool mick. No hurry. Just curious. Sorry to hear you've been sick. Its not that killer Flu we have this year is it? I sure hope not. Down here in TX a number of people have died from it.. Get better soon.
  15. Welcome to the board. i also have an 87 TurboWagon. That seems to be a pretty common year for them. Theres lots of good info and great people here.
  16. Thanks Shawn.. And Mick... I never even noticed it down there.. thanks for pointing it out.. I feel like a dork now:o EDIT: Hey mick. did you still wanna trade wheels?
  17. 1992 FSM Section 1-1, Page 3.. EJ22 N/A 130HP @ 5400 RPM EJ22T 160HP @ 5600 RPM
  18. http://ultimatesubaru.org/80s/ea-performance-page/subaru-ea-performance.html Note to Admin: Could we have a link to ultimatesubaru.org somewhere..? I have seen a number of people looking for the wheels page and other things that are readily available from that page.. Or did I just miss it?
  19. Really? Is it different for a turbo car? When I did my auto to manual swap I didn't do anything like that. Could you elucidate further on thy why's of the matter and possible consequences of not doing it? I didn't see anything in my FSM that would lead me to believe this was an issue.
  20. Maybe if you go yard wandering, you could find me an ECU from a Euro EA82T:D Merry Xmas Will
  21. Good notes, thats exactly how I do it, except I tie the hood up to the roof rack. Miles, Great write-ups. Keep it up.
  22. Inside the car. its the trim panel right above your knees when you are sitting in the drivers seat. the fuel pump relay and ignition relay are directly above the left side of the ECU.
  23. Good for you.. theres nothing like asking $500 for a $200 car
  24. Russ, Do you have any side profile pics of the car? I am curious about how the back looks with those springs. thanks
