  1. I agree. Its possible your flywheel is loose and is separating from the crank. The teeth on your starter are getting chewed up because its not making good contact with the teeth any more.
  2. Is the end of the wrench still on the head of the bolt? Use the screwdriver to pry it off. But first try turning the flywheel.
  3. Any maintenance records? How old was the previous owner (mods, etc)? Did you have it inspected before buying?
  4. I give free rides if any one wants one!
  5. Turn the crank pulley to the right a little bit then use a screwdriver to pop it off.
  6. Well, we dont have smell a vision here so everything is speculation. Keep a eye on all fluid levels and for smoke, thats all we can suggest.
  7. I posted this in your other thread (Which I moved to the Retrofit forum). Theres only 4 bolts and you can access them from the hole on top of the bell housing. Its to the left as you look at the engine and may have a black rubber cover on it. I use a 12mm socket (make sure its a good 6pt one) and a 3/8 ratchet. It can be a pain to break them loose sometimes. What I have done is smack the handle of the ratchet with my hand or use a soft blow hammer.
  8. No, you need to remove the bolts. Theres only 4 of them and you can access them from the hole on top of the bell housing. 9. You still havent mentioned what extras you will be adding
  10. You're going to go thru transmissions quicker than wheel bearings (a common failure for the SVX). The SVX already has all the luxury mods ever made by Subaru. The only thing that needs changed usually is the stereo.
  11. When the turbo is boosting its also creating lots of heat. Look for stuff thats close to it to see if its melting.
  12. Looks like someone on Nasioc from your area spotted you... http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showpost.php?p=38903994&postcount=168
  13. Theres Suberdaves swap...http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=108197
  14. Get the right size tap and re-thread the holes.
  15. I had some communication with Russ tonight about this, we are going to try and get it done. Its going to take the better part of a day to do, so it needs to be set up in advance at where he works.
  16. Someone from nasioc spotted a lifted white EA82 Wagon in the U District. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showpost.php?p=38903994&postcount=168
  17. He said originally it was running fine after the rebuild then quickly got worse. I still think you should try new plugs.
  18. All turboed Subaru's come with NGK iridium plugs from the factory, its what they recommend for replacement also. They handle the high temps better and last longer.
  19. I've carried a canvas bag for my mobile auto tools since the 80's. I dont need to carry tools around for work any more, so if I need to take more tools I'll throw them in a plastic bucket or old milk crate. I have a substantial investment into my tools and try to keep them as secure as possible. I dont have a garage so my rolllerbox is in my office, along with most of my power tools.
  20. Thats Nico's car, he has a build thread here - http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=130943
  21. Try new NGK iridium plugs and clean the MAF with the appropriate cleaner.
  22. Sounds to me like a bad connection in the harness. Seeing how you had to disconnect everything to pull the engine, I would check all the electrical plug connections and grounds.
  23. Milling isnt necessary, you can use a grinder.
  24. Did that in my SVX too. Just make sure you have enough room to get the beast out from under the car. You may have to put it on the ground to slide it out, like I did.
