  1. Darn Pat, wish I knew you were (inadvertently) sticking around there. When I didnt get a call back I just figured you were too tired and in a hurry to get on the road. Then about 6hrs later I got a call from(sleepy) Qman saying you called and left a message. I must have misunderstood what he said, so I didnt call. Oh well, drive safe and see you when you get home bud.
  2. And your point is? Maybe I should change my screen name to Blackbone Hey Connie, which one did you pick?
  3. To keep this from happening again, make sure the axle is seated in the hub all the way. And that axle nut needs to be re torqued a few times after driving it.
  4. Why are there so many peaks and valleys on that run? On all the other dyno runs that have been posted there are no sharp rises and drops. Is this because it was done on a Dynojet, which has a rep of being unreliable
  5. 1982 GL Coupe with Enkies I owned for a while. Put a 5spd and a Weber on it, it scooted real good. Traded it for my Hatch. 1982 GLF Coupe, my first Soob. 5spd all stock, to many speeding ticks. Then theres my last Coupe, the 84 4wd Turbo. I'm thinking the next Coupe is going to be a little, uh, extreme
  6. Yeah, c'mon guys. We want to hear from Pat, so we know he survived the trip Want to see pics of the delivery and all.
  7. Seems like they come in more frequently at the yards up north. The Tacoma PAP is located off of Hwy 512 and Steele St.
  8. DOJ > Double Offset Joint. Its the inner joint. You right about the roll/spring pin, altho they dont fall out that often. Hey, I complain when I have to work on my car outside when its 32deg
  9. Have you ever removed the inner DOJ to do the bearings? Might want to check and see if the DOJ is on the axle stub, it might have a broken or lost roll pin too. Now thats the easiest to fix
  10. I was thinking the same thing. But more like, "Man, I bet Miles is eating his heart out" And Pat is doing it all by himself(driving and all).
  11. It could also be that the splines on one of the hubs are stripped out. If there are caps on the wheels, pull them off. Then put the car in gear and see if the axle is moving but the wheel isnt. Also, the front diff might be toast. Hence the noises, but this could also be a hub/grinding. Will, you haven tried very hard. The Subaru 3AT is a POS. And thats from experiance.
  12. Replacing the gov with another used one will last for a little while. But with it worn that bad, I'm pretty sure the worm gear inside the diff is bad too and it will in short order wear out the one you just put in. Might be a good idea to check the gov before getting the next tranny and installing it. I've never heard of a alum replacement, whats the deal on that Moosen? What part is replaced?
  13. Edrach has a son in S.A. Might want to PM him.
  14. Glad you made it thru the bumps in the road so far. Also hope you get your 4wd back, youre going to need it. Get some rest, do some meditating I'm not sure I could handle all that stress.
  15. He actually removed the back hatch and had a tonnau cover made for it. It did have some leakage issues tho.
  16. What? You still here? Hope you have a safe trip. If you hadnt noticed, we have snow this morning. Take it easy and let us know how its going at your stops.
  17. How bad are the cracks? If they arent raised to bad they should be fine, they are real common. Look inside the exhaust port to see if there are cracks inside towards the valves. These are the ones you have to worry about, thats where the water jacket is.
  18. Its not quite drivable, at least not that distance. But it is certainly towable. I know cause I've seen the car in person, also know the owner of it. If you can do this Pat, let me know. The owners name is also Pat, btw :-p
  19. Wow, does that stand out . For being yellow, it doesnt look bad at all.
  20. Wouldnt mind hooking up to say hi, after the first maybe. I'm just east of Tacoma and it only takes about 25min to make it to I-5 (or less )If thats possible, I'll give you my cell #.
  21. Will, I hate to say it. But your turning into a perpetual whiner And a post w#$%e
