how much for new head gasket installed??
Depends first on what engine you have in your vehicle. If it is OHC then you should get the cam seals while you are at it.If it is OHV then just do the HG with the valve cover gasket. Are you doing it yourself or paying someone?

Thinking Of Going Magnum
Jerry DeMoss replied to 9098's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI guess you could get the magnum but spend at least double in gas.I think those things are gas hogs.I for one am one that does not like the styling. But just my .02

Ignition Coil & Carb Issues
since you said you did plugs and wires and cap, I would check to see if you have your wires on the correct cylinders.I know that would make it run like crap.

Tighten up the Shifter play?
There is definatly a fix for this.It involves cutting the shaft on the transmission that goes to the connector to the stick shift itself.Cut a slot lengthwise in it and use a bolt to go through the hole in the top were the pin used to be and it will compress together.I am sure someone has pics of this.

Legacy Auto to manual conversion?
Hi I saw a 1993 auto turbo legacy for sale and thought I would see how hard it would be to swap from auto to manual? I would like to hear from people that have done something like this. The main things that concern me is the pedal cluster and the wiring involved taking the auto out and converting everything over. And lastly I am not sure what tranny I would try to use with that.Just thought I would ask all you smart people out there.

AA lift install finished minus steering adapter
Ya rustiness comes with living in the AK lots of mag chloride and saltwater to make your car get rusty quick.Once broke a socket wrench trying to get the bolts off of a rollbar on a truck I used to have.Just lots of corrosion to seize everything together.Use pb penetrating oil, seemed to help.

Head gasket replacement help
Jerry DeMoss replied to patton2tank's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWhat type of vehicle are you doing the work on?What motor more specifically.Turbo or n/a?Get a shop manual if you don't already have one....Most of the heads on subes require you to untorque them in a certain order for removal so you don't warp the heads. And so on for the retorque for the istallation.

83 BRAT WRX with EJ20T
I wish someone would write down something as far as the wiring goes.I would like to have something to be able to look at when doing wiring as I am sure others would appreciate that as well.Could someone come up with a helper guide so others don't have to keep checking everything that they prob don't need. I think I may want to do a swap like this some day.....Anyone got some ideas for getting a book/wiring help guide for subes besides the shop manuals....They can be very vague.Just an idea.

Leaking Brake Fluid
Jerry DeMoss replied to Roamer's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXCheck your bleeder valve on the caliper.Make sure it is tight. That is a good place to start.Otherwise check where the brake line itself for any small cracks from offroading& debri that may have struck the line. Also check the fitting from the brake line where it meets the caliper and make sure that is tight.Good luck.

lack of power
Ya not much power stock but....The thing I did for my brother on his ea81 wagon was to pull the intake off and grind out those puny little ports and then pull the heads off and give the intake a good grinding and a little polishing on the exhaust side. We cut some holes on the sides of the stock air filter housing and put a k&n filter in to make the carb draw more air.The result was very noticeable with alot more torque and quick revs.

Anyone is Colorado ever...
