  1. If you hear something coming from the 2.2, a lot of the time it is normal. It can be a light ticking, to a very loud ticking. In my mom's 95 Legacy L 2.2l, it ticked for about two months back in 2003. It was so loud and annoying. One day when I was jumping a friends car, I revved it to 5500RPMs and it stopped. It has not done it since...and that has been 40,000 miles. I think it is usuly the valve lifters that make the ticking. My 2.2l Outback ticks very softly...sometimes you can't even tell unless your head is under the hood.
  2. Are you trying to put it in first when the car is still moving? (I don't understand what a stammer is in car terms :-/)
  3. I have it if you want it. I am only looking for shipping costs. It is in perfect condition. $5 shipped to you if you want it. PM me if you're interested.
  4. Thank you for all the replies. When I put a new muffler on my car, I just grinded the old bolts off, went to the hardware store and got high quality bolts, and all was well. Thanks a lot for the help.
  5. I was talking to my mom, and a mechanic told her she had a leaking exhaust dougnut, and he recomended replacing the entire exhaust. I have replaced my muffler and whatnot, and put new gaskets and bolts on. I was wondering...is replacing the 'doughnut' similar? Just cut the old bolts off, take the old one out, replace it, new bolts? I looked on 1stSubaruParts.com and Advance Auto Parts website and could not find the doughnuts listed. Any help would be great. My mom does not want to spend all that money on a new exhaust, as the current one is fine, except those dougnut gasket things. Thanks (by the way, her car is a 95 Legacy L)
  6. If no one claims it, sell it on ebay and give the procedes to help support the board! ...or keep it like most people would do :-p
  7. I thought about putting Hella 500s where my fog lamps are. I really need more light. The lens covers for my headlights are so foggy on the inside. I tried polishing them up...it didn't help. I would love to bumper mount some Hella 500's and then put another set on my roof rack
  8. Don't do it forever. If you have to do it until you get the money together for new tires, it outta be ok.
  9. I bought it used, but it did come with the spoiler when it was new. Right now I have 119,000 miles on it. I just put a new muffler on it, and it is LOUD
  10. Hahahaha. I think the looks of the B9 are growing on me...it isn't as bad looking as I once thought.
  11. I broke three ratchets getting mine off. They were all 3/8 inch drive, and I was using an adapter with the large socket. I ended up getting a 1/2 inch drive ratchet and a pipe to get it off. Its tough...but it comes off.
  12. how many miles? Any work need done, or is it in sound mechanical condition?
  13. Congrats! I hear ya about the deer thing...here in PA in the fall they are all over..
  14. Stuff like this makes me never want to let ANYONE touch my car. Good luck. Make sure they fix everything they broke. Raise some hell.
  15. I believe the newer Subaru's have a timing belt change interval of 105,000 miles. Older ones are 60,000 miles. As far as brakes go...use Subaru parts, and they last a long time. Don't get the $3 pads at Autozone...spend the money for good pads. What years are you looking at? Auto or manual?
  16. That is good to know. I always assumed anything that claimed to fix an oil leak was some sort of scam. I'll have to try it out next time I discover an oil leak.
  17. I believe a manual tranny from the Legacy will bolt up easy. Just a suggestion
  18. I have a set from Craftsman. I really like being able to take the ones I break to a Sears and get a free replacment. It is worth the extra money. I'd like to get a large set of Craftsman. With a mix of metric and standard sizes.
