  1. Nice score:headbang: :headbang: We went back for a second look at them but side by side with the Outback they just don't have the cargo space we needed. What trim level did you get it in??? Later, Tim
  2. I know, I know, double posting yada yada yada. I just want to give the off road community a heads up. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?p=718836#post718836 Thanks, Tim
  3. We're all in this together, the importaint thing is you showed appriciation for the help you got. :headbang:
  4. Okay, I'm in........ PS Bill if you're reading this, how's the title comming;) Tim
  5. If you're getting chunks of crud comming out you may want to do the process a couple of times. I've had some that took three rounds with MMO before they really started smothing out. Later, Tim
  6. Hey Andrew. How you been??? Haven't seen you around for quite some time. Later, Tim
  7. I would strongly suggest Marvel Mystery Oil (MMO) in the oil, you may have to do it a couple of times (depending on gunk build up) but it will definately clean it up. Later, Tim
  8. Very "retro":headbang: . My 1966 Galaxie has the same set-up but with two lights!!! So we just went back and look again and the Forester is just to small in the back, even with the added lenght and width. But now, I see some very nice incentives on the 08 Outbacks. 0% financing, 0 down and cash back:eek:  . We may end up in an 08 Outback yet:banana:
  9. So I'm starting to plan my stratagy. I'll wait until March 09, when the 10s come out and get it with some of the end of year perks that I'm seeing with the 08s right now. Things like cash back, 0% intrest etc. Then in two to three years it will get traded off on a Diesel. Still need to drive one, but with everything I've read and seen it will only be a formality:grin: . Thanks for all the input so far. Now to see who is gonna be "first" to own one!!!
  10. Under the carpet is a layer of "stuff" that is there for noise. It is very difficult to take out and you would be defeting your purpose because it will come out in small chunks. You'll never have the ride/comfort of a Lincoln out of a 20+ year old Subby. As stated above, under-coat the bottem and esspecially in the wheel wells and other places that water grime and salt can accumulate. You might even want to take out the plastic wheel wells and get behind and under them very well. Tim
  11. I went with GCK. First because they were new, not remaned and second the shipping quote I got from MWE made their axles more expensive. I like to support our vendors, but I also have to be cost consious. Just a thought, Tim
  12. So let me get this straight, if you own one it's okay to call it ugly (even as sarcasm), but God help the person who is just giving a bit of ribbing??? was intended to show humor. I could honestly care less what they look like, If I don't like it I'm not going to buy it. If you are this distresed over other people talking about a car (not even yours specifically) you may want to consider going back to old junk just for the peace of mind. (<-now that's funny:lol:  ) And now bak to 09 Foresters.............
  13. Thanks for the links everyone. There is one on our dealers lot right now:eek: . Took them until March to get an 08 STI, but they must be one of the first to get a Forester. It's not as ugly as the Imps (jab, jab) but then it is a very different car too. I think we will test drive it soon and let you all know what I think. Tim
  14. Your gonna love this We have three Rottweilers, two females at 80lbs and a big boy at 110lbs:headbang: :headbang: Everyone fits fine in the 97 OBW, I did just install a gate to keep "Big Head" out of the front. The back seat is almost never in the up position. Later, Tim
  15. We are looking to replace our 97 OBW in the near future. It is our "utillity" vehicle plus Vicky's daily driver. We looked at the Tribeca, but I think they are ugly and it would kill me to put three dogs in a $40,000 car. I really like the Outbacks, wife doesn't. We both kinda like the looks of the 09 Forester, the price is about right and I think it would make a good tow car for the camper. I looked at the Subaru.com site but didn't find exactly what the trim levels consited of, anyone with a clue feel free to school me on that. The only thing bad for the dogs, I think, is that it seems to sit up higher in the back making a bigger jump into the back. Just looking for thoughts. Tim
  16. First off, don't try and jerry rig your brakes. That's the one system not to mess around with. Second, don't use your specific car. Use the parts for an 84 GL wagon. This is what I came up with from Napa (not an endorsment, just the first link in my shopping folder). http://www.napaonline.com/masterpages/NOLMaster.aspx?PageId=430&CatId=3&SubCatId=1 I checked out AZ and you are right, they only sell the gold plated ones  Later, Tim WOW, in the six minutes I was looking up parts you got the answer three times
  17. http://www.4wheelparts.com/PPT3869T100013.aspx SSR http://www.4wheelparts.com/PPT3873T100016.aspx TSL http://www.4wheelparts.com/PPT3879T100018.aspx TSL/SX Just a few options, Tim
  18. Here's another thought, do they have specific instances were they can prove it was you??? Do you have a log-in or some other way for them to be sure that the internet usage was directly associated to you??? If not, it would again be very hard to prove who was doing what. Tim
  19. Did anyone catch this show last night on The Speed Channel:confused: They were testing an Austin Martin, apx price $150,000. It was taken to a track and put up against the Harmon STI apx price $90,000. Best quote of that segment from the STI driver "that wasn't even close". So the AM guy brought out a Dodge Viper SVT, a little closer, but still got beat:banana:  . I wish I would have taped that show:rolleyes:
  20. +100. I did the snake oil experiment with mine when I knew the HG was gone, all it did was cloged up what was left of the cooling system. Thank goodness for CCR:banana:
  21. Just wondering what I missed for him to get banned:confused:  Tim
  22. Just to clearify it would be $150 for all four tierods. I'm just doing the passenger side this time around. I'll be sure to do the boots too. Thanks for the tips, Tim
  23. I've been trying off and on for most of the day but I haven't been able to down load it . I might try again tonight . Thanks for the link Skip, I love my Weber Manuals!!!
  24. Just picked up the inner and outer tierods for my hatchback (SOA W/discount $76 per side:eek: ). The outer ones are cake, but I've never done the inner. Anything I should be aware of or any tips you might have to help it along??? TIA, Tim
