Help! My brat is dead on the side of the road.
subiemech85 replied to Wirebrush's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
one time drove a ea81 with bad distributor, had to keep the rpm up real high, otherwise tried replacing module, did not fix problem required a good dist. from board member -
I figured the ambient temp will be low enough to not worry about extra heat sink with the active cooling from the fan, but perhaps a piece of diamond tread aluminum holding the resistors away from the box wall 1/2" + may work better will be using the spare blower box as the test bed for R/D purposes

would it be non-street legal if i...????

look here http://www.lilligren.com/Redneck/images/redneck_snowplow.jpg to give you ideas -
the reason I requested the ACTUAL resistance values is because... 1. from reading post # 58, it was not clear if the values were after his repair 2. I will be ordering high watt wire wound aluminum case axial lead bolt on flange mount 1% resistors, cost less than $6 each made by Huntington Electric Inc., sold by Digi-Key Corporation, with a data sheet @ http://www.heiresistors.com/PDF/TMC%20Spec.pdf , that will be bolted to the main blower duct just after the blower motor so the fan will keep them cool hopefully a durable solution to the issue

YES!!

looking for ACTUAL resistance values for the resistors in the resistor pack for the blower motor speed control would also like to know the resistance value of the blower motor itself trying to calculate watts, etc. to over-build a replacement system, overkill search has come up with little info, also not sure of the accuracy http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=64761&highlight=resistor+pack&page=6 # 58 gave some info, but a little hard to follow when values entered in spreadsheet, stuff is easier to see chart is at http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3192778

IIRC it's book 4 electrical for '88 all fuse numbers are exactly as illustrated #10 is second from left in middle row -
just cant find a good ea81 core

dingle ball brushes work well, IF you control STROKE and RPM did you try a 2 or 4 oz ball pein hammer? also a BLUE ROLOC works wonders -
from the reading, you did not state that you put oil in the engine...... check the dipstick remove gauge from line, and remove filler cap from fill tube, put line into fill tube and run engine, check for FLOW ALSO, what is the oil viscosity and ambient temp?? frozen tar will not pump

well my puzzler got puzzled with either side headlight relay removed, that headlight is about 50% bright, while the other is 100% bright with headlights turned on headlights work normal when both relays are connected while "fuse" #10 is not blown, and park brake set, indicator light is on, but if blown, indicator is off defrost seems to not work, also no indicator 4wd solenoids no longer click, and no indicator overhead center lamp does not turn on when door open, but works in on position turbo light no longer continuously on pulling headlight relay no longer allows turn signals to work as did before in previous post all that has happened differently, was AFTER 3 mile test run replaced 3 relays because the tin tops were rusty, one was very bad, even had corroded terminals, it was above the hood release -
with a little searching using the right words came up with this.... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=48297&highlight=winterforce

well, here's 1/2 disconnected "relay" with 3 large wires and one small wire, wire colors are black, black with white, black with yellow, and small black will look into this sunday after I wake up after unplugging the relay, the turn signals work relay is in the bracket that holds 4 relays, and supposidbly the turn signal unit, second from the left -

summary of findings: upgraded to 15a circuit breaker left = blow off = blow right = blow after short delay, tries to flash once, and dash lights go dim before blow just tried with 20a cb. only difference is right tries to "flash" 6 times, but turn signal bulb does not flash -

change your basher zzz or air hammer kit the tunnels are different, relying on obscure reference from fuzzy memory
