1 Remove muffler and rear differential ASSY (4WD model only) 2 Remove fuel filler cap and drain fuel from fuel tank ..... 3 Remove fuel filler pipe protector 4 Remove clamp and disconnect fuel filler hose from fuel filler pipe 5 Remove clamp and disconnect air vent hose from fuel filler pipe 6 Loosen clips and disconnect delivery hose, return hose and evaporation tube from fuel tank 7 While holding fuel tank, remove SIX mounting bolts from fuel tank and dismount it a. Two men are required to perform step 7 above b. Have a helper support fuel tank whien disconecting fuel meter harness or evaporation tube 8 Disconnect harness connector from fuel meter unit 9 Loosen clips, disconnect evaporation tube, and dismount fuel tank Fuel Meter Unit 1 Remove floor mat from luggage compartment 2 Remove access hole lid 3 Disconnect harness connector from fuel meter unit 4 Remove FIVE nuts and detach fuel meter unit assuming you have CARB fuel system, remove the pump assembly with bracket from under car, and find a convenient spot underhood, then install filter after pump I have a cruddy bottom tank, so made plate to run new fuel pickup through fuel level sending unit hole, ran rubber hose under carpet and down to pump, have standard clear plastic 5/8" filter BEFORE pump, and clear 5/8 glass - metal - nylon Mr. Gasket cleanable fuel filter underhood BEFORE carb one nice benefit about the Mr. Gasket is that it is easy to clean, remove out line and plug with thumb, remove in line and plug with finger, SHAKE VIGOROUSLY - and pour out crud, repeat as necessary NOTICE!! fuel injected has larger supply and return pipes, also has a chamber which prevents interruption of fuel flow during cornering

if choke is properly adjusted, about 1/2 out to all in is idle up, and from 1/2 to all out is idle up + choke manual choke is nice, especially when you understand how it works I have used it as a variable enrichment tune on the fly when using E-85 Spiffy, your choke is STUCK ON, possibly the heater element not working, you can wire it open -- should start easily, just pump it a few times, then it should idle about 800rpm, AND STAY RUNNING, -- BTDT

well, let's see..... fuel pump control circuit decided to quit working, jumper wire used instead started quite well at a balmy 0*f no choke, just pump it 8 times, turns over just fine thanks to the 5w30 after it ran for a little bit, released the clutch too quickly which killed the engine -- after a quick battery recharge, lit up right away then let it sit until about 6pm with block heater working -- fired up like it was 70 and sunny I (love) my block heater just a fyi, it's warmer in Sveden, even above the arctic circle scroll down to bottom of page in link for weather!! http://www.sr.se/cgi-bin/International/nyhetssidor/index.asp?nyheter=1&ProgramID=2054

FHI makes their own turbines The Eco Technologies Company has used FHI’s aircraft- related technologies to develop and market 40kW compact wind-power systems and 100kW midsize wind-power systems, and it is moving forward with the development of 2,000kW large-scale wind-power systems able to meet the power needs of approximately 1,500 households. This large-scale system, the Subaru 80/2.0, employs a downwind-type wind turbine that keeps the rotors slightly downwind of the base tower. While downwind-type wind turbines are rarely seen anywhere in the world, they have special performance features that enable them to make good use of the updrafts that are characteristic of locations with mountainous and hilly terrain. The Company is seeking to expand its wind-power business and thereby help reduce carbon dioxide emissions by developing technologically distinctive wind-power systems suited for the unique geographical and weather conditions of Japan, which has many small islands and mountain valleys and a high incidence of powerful typhoons and lightning storms. http://www.fhi.co.jp/english/outline/section/ecotech.html

If you have more money then sense, you could buy one from perrin performance, $150 http://www.perrinperformance.com/products/show/56/Oil-Catch-Can-Overflow-Tank?category=4&model=22 local speed shop should have an oil catch can, but a bottle with hoses will work just as well, and save more money the oil fill side, # 1 & 3 is the FRESH AIR SUPPLY the other side is the blowby gas delivery to pcv system side DO NOT connect both sides together I prefer to use clear vinyl hose, 5/8" ID -
why am i not getting good gas milage?
subiemech85 replied to devildog78brat's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
therein lies your answer the thermochoke crap broke you can wire it open choke is not necessary at 14*f, may just need to pump it a few times at most, usually just turn the key and presto!! idle @ 600 rpm atleast that's the way it works for me -
option 1 is probably the best option, have it shaved if necessary is the blowout a warranty issue? option 2 is also good, consider the firestone winterforce option 4 walmart has some nice meaty "all season" douglas xtra-trac a/w, did I say meaty?? loads of traction, especially in gravel and muddy roads made by goodyear NT COMPANIA GOODYEAR DEL PERU LIMA PERU Douglas Xtra-Trac The Douglas Xtra-Trac A/W features an all-season tread design and good resistance to hydroplaning, said the company.
