  1. you can reconnect the cable after you put back the instrument panel and pull down the fuse panel, and stick your hand up there, also helps if you pull the large plastics from under the steering wheel area
  2. how is the vac. advance set? try manifold when you go above 19" hg, switch to microns
  3. sounds like the choke is stuck hook up the line for the choke completely remove egr and fittings, block off

  5. I adjust them when the valve cover gaskets need replacing follow instruncions underhood for "gap" start at 1, tdc comp, then 2, 180* apart , then 3 should be back to the 0* mark, then 4, 180* apart there is a mark at 180* on the flywheel, and a notch or a hole in the crankshaft pulley at 0* and 180*
  6. http://www.cartalk.com/content/features/Gay-Lesbian/gay-chick2.html warning content, although safe, may not be for some to see
  7. The carb/intake manifold from the 85 wagon was working 100% perfect, no problems put everything on correctly, and the 84 brat will not run below 2000 rpm :madder: now what? Besides more
  8. sure they do, you just trim them a little (And wiper blades--no one stocks 11" wiper blades.) But best of luck to you on that one.
  9. change the oil to John Deere Break in oil. if you use too good of oil, it does not have the correct friction properties to allow the componets to set and change the drain plug gasket and oil filter
  10. it never hurts to add a filter BEFORE the pump I use clear inline filters, one before the pump, and one before the carb, and the stock "vapor separator"
  11. there is one good reason to buy from autozone, PUROLATOR filters nobody else had the air filter for my subaru in stock I spend most of my $ at oreilly auto, axles and water pumps are in stock!
  12. I run E10 year round, with good results, it is also usually 2c cheaper and 2points higher in ocatane simple math 10 gallon tank 9 gallons of fuel 1 gallon of ethanol that little bottle of drygas doesn't do crap! use Ethanol, not Methanol ......corn...........wood
  13. Sounds ALOT like the symptoms I had when the distributor went bad, refused to run below 4,000rpm, +/-
  14. don't bother pulling the wheel, just slither under, that's what I always do, and use something to pinch off the fuel line, unless you like getting soaked by fuel
  15. Is it "SAFE" to use GM coolant supplement sealant? It is mostly turnip root and almond shells, IIRC it is what is required for the aluminum block and cast iron head 4. ht series engines, and works good
  16. the benefit of synthetics is the extended change interval for OTR trucks, with 100,000 mile change intervals do not use additves, as they are not necessary with a good oil
  17. there is a fuel filter that is before the pump, on the same bracket, which should be behind the right side wheel
  18. I carry spare filters, oil, gas, water, 3 alternators, 1 coil, 1 belt, bulbs, fuses, jumper cables, duck tape, tools, and a tire, and many other things as needed for the midwest mud meet, I was loaded, and my tools saved more than one car
  19. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=18903 you should have searched!
  20. engine won't go in to transmission pulled out 84 brat engine and 4spd d/r put in 85 wagon 5spd d/r engine does not go in! ...............WTF?..........................
  21. I see it mostly this way: "old" cars are worked on by the drivers and members of this board, and the "new" cars are worked on by the dealers
  22. IF you have a GOOD turbo, you SHOULD be showing BOOST while cruising
  23. engine oil 0 5 7.5 10 20 25 30 40 50 60 gear oil . . 70 75 77.5 80 85 90 115 140 above numbers in viscosity, resistance to flow, when measured at 100 *C do NOT mix types of gear oil, as severe reactions from the additives may result in the replacement of your transmission, or other areas I recomend you obtain a copy of John Deere "OIL SALES GUIDE" DKE7413
