Cross Over Pipe O-Ring
Gloyale replied to steve56's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXmost headsets I've gotten lately have come with them. Subaru sells a fancy orange rubber one (same as the block case halves o-Ring) but they also have a standrad buna rubber ones too. Most EJ engines came with a standard buna rubber o-ring there. I've used 1-9/16 I.D. standard buna O-rings from PICO on many and never had issues. 1.50 for a pack of 4.

Thinking of picking up a spare EJ22- Need Advice
Gloyale replied to Stevo F's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXthis is incorrect. Phase ii, "through the valve covers" type started in 99 and went through 2001. Those are basically a small bore SOHC 2.5

1985 GL Unusual Heater and climate control issues.
that pipe is part of the intake system. You must remove the intake to acess that port. Or dry it and JB weld over it may be the better option if you don't want to start disassembling the engine.

Thanks Fuji, two mounting points on mpfi TB :)
Three wire plug coming out of TPS is idle switch. nothing to do with Auto trans.

1985 GL Unusual Heater and climate control issues.
If it's spraying out of the metal intake then you need a new one. Or you need t pull it off and JB weld the heck out whatever is leaking. My guess is a rusted out part of the steel tube, or a casting plug (freeze plug)

88 GL 10 T- 2.2 L swap, hoping to run Microsquirt
what ECU/harness are you trying to run? Setting up the Factory harness is pretty easy. Bet you just missed something simple.

Looking for options for slipping clutch on EJ swap
Just know that it won't hold up long. Personally had 2 of my swaps grenade the 4spd within the first year of driving. If you on;y putter around it might be fine, but then why do you need an EJ?
-
Looking for options for slipping clutch on EJ swap
yes but why? The 4spd wil not hold up long behind an EJ......maybe a year.

4wd n/a ea81 coupe?
There were 4wd turbo coupes and sedans made in 83 and 84. But not any non-turbo 4wd coupes. There was a Non-turbo (carbed), 4wd (3AT) sedan produced in 1984 only. I own one.

LCA Bolt
there should be a steel sleeve insert inside the bushing to keep it from crushing down on the rubber or the LCA itself.
-
LCA Bolt
Just an M12 x 1.25 bolt. Higher grade the better. Not rocket science here.

1997 Legacy GT- poor idle except when drive belt disconnected
Gloyale replied to Stevo F's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX+1 ac ripple will cause idle issues and pulsing in lights when it gets bad. although, Subaru voltage at idle should be not more than about 12.8~13v within a few minutes of startup. they should not "sit" at 14+ volts at idle.....they aren't GMs. GM does this because their wiring setups are long and overly complicated so to have 12v at an accesory they have to have 14+ at the battery to account for the line loss/volt drop.

Width of PS rack?
This. It's about the relative width of the Inner control arm pivot, and the rack. Small difference might not be super noticeable on smooth roads.....But tires will wear funky over time. Did this mod once on an 86 EJ22 GL my buddy drove the car for about 2 years and always had handling issues, and weird tire wear. Swapped out the rack to an EA82 and it is now fine.

Favorite off road tires
Beggs tire in Philomath or Albany They will order them in for ya. Pretty sure schwab will too but I would try small local shops before them ever.

Looking for options for slipping clutch on EJ swap
Have the flywheel resurfaced with a .810 step .830 is regular 4cyl 1.8 spec. .815 is XT6 spec .810 gives you even a bit more clamp than either. I have all my EA82 flywheels done to this spec now.
-
Width of PS rack?
You think it's great. But in reality, any time you turn or hit a bump your alignment is going wonky. EJ rack is wider than EA82. your tires are wearing faster than they need to and I can't imagine it cornering well with toe changing as you move through the turn.
