I'm in, and maybe a friend or two, here's a map relative the rest of the cities, it's far enough away, I'll probably stay here if we do come, but we could do it last, then you guys could head out.

don't quote me on this, but isn't there something on EA81's that needs a little, uh, careful sledge treatment, to allow the suspension to work properly? I don't have the time/patience now, but maybe poke around a bit.

wanna see another WRX powered brat?
Numbchux replied to subaru_styles's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I wonder how that FMIC looks, I hope it doesn't stick out of the bumper like the last one posted up here, I wasn't a big fan of that :-\ -
I like that idea, though the places I was thinking are more out west, I think you'd enjoy the swamp at my friends place , but anyway, sounds good.

Who wants NA headers, and TWE update
Numbchux replied to WJM's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
well, I need a new one anyway, if it's more cost-effective than haveing a local shop do one custom (I still have to get quotes on that) I'd be in. -
hey sinbin, and welcome! I've yet to see a brat in the minneapolis area, or up here in duluth for that matter. Join MNSubaru.com, we need more old-school representation!!! anyway, this sounds awesome, I won't be in town until Xmas eve, and will probably be leaving for vacation very soon after new years, so my vote would be sometime between then (who'd have guessed). Edit: oops I already said that

I'm thinking this Saturday (11/27) during the day, maybe go out to eat before/after. anyone interested? And if it snows, that's cool too:brow:

I have a few, two involve snow and my FWD 3AT wagon, and the other a destroyed balljoint/DOJ. All three in my friends yard. First, I was being the screwball teenager that I am, and was drifting in his driveway, well, I think this tells the story better than I ever could. Yes, I'm 2 feet from his driveway, and about 20 from the most major highway in the area! The other Loyale one was at his concrete parking slab, I decided I'd park it with the front bumper pushed into the snowbank, well, I pushed it a bit to far into said snowbank, and the front wheels came up off the ground. Go get the lawn tractor and a chain! And the third, I was flying through the swamp behind his house in my GL, and found a nice big rock, the hard way. Made a horrible sound, but no obvious damage. I later found out that it had sheared the nut of the end of the balljoint, which pulled apart in the flattest part of his yard, which, in turn, pulled the circlip/balls/cage out of the DOJ, making it almost completely undriveable, even in 4WD.

The Vintage positive vibe grows from the USMB
Numbchux replied to moosens's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
No inspections here in MN, good thing too! And 15+ y.o. cars don't even have the mileage on the title. but there are a bunch of criteria for classic plates, I think everything over 30 or 40 can, but there are exceptions for cars newer than that. -
I tore mine while offroading, and it was quickly filled with mud/sand/gravel, so the grease didn't come out, but the car started doing some crazy things, (jerking severly to the right, especially when accelerating). but usually, I would wait until it isn't just a torn boot, let that thing get good and worn out.

welcome, it's good to see another person from Duluth! now all you have to do is join www.mnsubaru.com (that goes for all you minnesota people!) maybe I'll see you around.
-
I was looking at mine, and the rear disc setup I just bought, and was wondering if it would work, but I'm not anywhere near my car, so I have no clue what the other end looks like. hmmmm....maybe I should get that other set from you, probably not.

looks fun, whereabouts is that/are you, looks like it could very well be up near me, !!! too bad those pics aren't higher resolution.

Wagon Addicts Anonymous!!! amazing to see there are others with the disease too, and not just a few, victims are common here. I agree with MaxBrat, few people ever recover from an encounter with the USMB.

Is "Tom P" (owner of the '84 beater wagon) a member? With all those TWE parts I would think so. O yea, Sweet ride Will!

MoganM, I knew you couldn't make it, so that's cool, but I've been seeing more people from minnesota on here lately, so I thought I'd post it up. elcaminokurt, don't sweat it, I didn't leave much notice. I'll be back in town Thanksgiving weekend, so we may go again, but I'll start a new thread when I know any details. Short video added to my album, it's too dark to really tell what's going on, but I think it becomes pretty obvious -
welcome! I too learned to drive a 5-speed in my subaru, because of some communication problems, I didn't get the title (and therefore couldn't liscence it) on it for a couple weeks, so I spent that time practicing driving up and down the driveway, put it in 4 Lo, plus a slightly worn out clutch, and you almost can't kill it!!!

Performance stuff for EA82 carbed engines?
Numbchux replied to mschafe's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
What do you think of the True Dual exhaust? Would you recommend it, I think it would be cool, but many people say it won't help, even that you loose power. What do you think? -
I will be doing the swap next summer (though mine will include a 2wd -> 4wd conversion, and other goodies ) but have been doing a bit of research, you will need the tranny and shift linkage (duh), but also the pedal box, and maybe even dash (though not necessary, but you don't need the P,R,N,D,2,1 lights on there) but it's been done before, and will be done again, so get some parts, and dive on in!!!

1994 Subare Loyale 5 speed for sell
Numbchux replied to phifer's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Well, for starters, this should go in the marketplace. One question, you said it's a 5 speed, but it looks like you've got the dash from an automatic in there. That may have something to do with your strange lighting action. -
Well, they're long from being installed on the wagon, but they've been sitting on the truck as long as I can remember (probably longer than I've been alive) and never worked, then I noticed they weren't wired in, so I put that thought with the one about that stock fog relay left on my car from when the lights were broken off. I pulled the lights off, and spliced the wires into the relay, and they both work!!! and well. What I'm wondering, is if the stock fog light system is actually a relay, and how should I mount these, just drill biga__ holes in my bumper and bolt them on is probably my best bet, short of some sort of a custum bumper
