any lifting suggestions?
bratman18 replied to wagonman99's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThe axles won't like that much lift a whole lot. That's close to 4" over stock. 3 is about as much as you want to go and not be eating axles. And with SF Forester struts(98-02) the rear spring perches are lower so you can't fit as big of tires without them rubbing on the spring perches. 03-08 Forester struts are better suited to fit bigger tires. Or 96-99 Outback struts are also an option. These are all a direct bolt in, but you will need to either drill a hole for the rear strut tops, or swap your Impreza top hats onto the Forester or Outback rear struts.

4EAT phase 2 question
bratman18 replied to TallonX's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI really think it's just what was said, the torque converter is unlocking, allowing for the RPM's to drop for better gas mileage at cruising speed.

ej swap power steering
Alright, thanks guys. I guess I'll have to look again next time I work on it. It didn't look like swapping the lines would work at all, as that was the original plan. But I'll investigate further.

Has any one else seen this?

ej swap power steering
I suppose they could be tight welded together. Not sure. The high pressure side has too much pressure to just use a hose and clamps from what I'm told. I'm not sure how you'd use ej lines from the pump to cross member where they come off the cross member in completely different ways. I did look at that option. And as for ea lines bolting right up, I don't know how. Again, they have completely different bends and routing for that to happen. I tried.

ej swap power steering
What have people done to adapt ea power steering lines to the ej pump. I have the return cut and just have the hose and clamps attached, but what about the high pressure side? Is there a certain flare tool that can make that type of flare for the fitting that goes into the pump?

Springs or Coilovers
bratman18 replied to naldo's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXLook on nasioc or a local subaru forum. People sell sets of strut assemblies all the time. Usually 300 or less for a set of 4 ready to bolt in.

raising a 95 legacy higher off the ground
bratman18 replied to bgambino's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThe only difference between the outback and forester struts are that the 98-02 rear struts have a lower spring perch, so you can't clear as big of tires. But the 03-08 forester rear struts changed that.

raising a 95 legacy higher off the ground
bratman18 replied to bgambino's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXAs I said, it's not 98-03 Forester struts that will work, it's all the way to 08 that they will work. Just so you're aware. Those all bolt right in.

Springs or Coilovers
bratman18 replied to naldo's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYou'd have to get Impreza struts to match those^springs. You don't want to put Impreza springs on Forester struts or it'll wear the struts out much quicker.

Springs or Coilovers
bratman18 replied to naldo's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXJust use complete strut assemblies from an 02-07 impreza or wrx. They bolt right in and lower a forester. It's a great set up. And a lot cheaper than coil overs.

Free wrx or $400 sti suspension for my 90?
bratman18 replied to Hinano's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThe rear top hats will have to be swapped no matter which struts you use. The STi and the wrx have the same top hat bolt pattern. But the first gen legacy has a different stud pattern.

Tires?
No kidding. I was actually just looking. At bighorn the other day and they were over a hundred more expensive for a set of 4. I used my grabbers in mud last year near the edge of a lake that the level had dropped and they did awesome, but obviously the big horns would be better with the bigger lugs. But they may wear faster if you do a lot of on road driving.

Opinions on restoring faded bumpers?
As was said, a heat gun works great. Carefully go over the entire surface and I it'll turn shiny black as you move along.
