  1. Looks like the link is down.
  2. So any updates? Did you get tires mounted on them yet?
  3. My hatch does this, as did my last wagon. I always thought it was normal. Guess I learned something new today, thanks Austin.
  4. Are they coming to you bare and then you're sending them off to powdercoating? If so, any chance of having them chromed instead? On the 5 year warranty, what all does that cover? Paint chips, bent rims, etc? Definitely looking forward to hearing more about these.
  5. I don't have all the specifics handy but it's true that Subaru puts it's more advanced AWD system into the automatics. I don't think there is much of a difference in how the AWD is setup from the 4EAT to the 5EAT. Autos are a 60/40 split, manuals are a 50:50. As far as what mudrat said, I can tell you that his source was incorrect. My '04 WRX (auto) has never gotten stuck anywhere, and it's probably been a few places it shouldn't have been. In fact, I had to use it to pull my '02 5spd WRX out of my driveway once, it was stuck in the gravel. And my modded auto car gets better mileage than my 5spd.
  6. For what it's worth, I'm using Firefox and can click the direct link without having to copy/paste. I think focusing on ea81 cars as well as the ea82(ie..liftkit) would be a plus. Maybe a kit for those of us thinking about doing the tcase conversion.
  7. Depending on how pricing for the group buy goes, this may be exactly what I've been waiting for. At $400 a set I just can't justify it on a vehicle I paid $100 for.
  8. Because two cams are better than one of course!
  9. I'm confused about one thing, RXs use the same injectors as all the other ea82t cars right?
  10. Ok that's it, now I have to do the 5-lug swap on my wagon. Those wrx wheels just look too good on there. Now to decide which on my WRXs to steal the wheels off of.
  11. If you decide to junk it let Adam N.D.J. know, he was looking for a 2wd ea82 car. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=34329
  12. That's the same tire I'm going with once I find a set of pugs. Not a real extreme offroad tire, but still streetable. And the price is definitely a plus. In the meantime, I'm still rocking out on my 13 inch Walmart Xtracs.
  13. This issue has been hashed though again and again over at nasioc.com, technically SoA cannot "void" your warranty. But they can refuse to cover your problems under warranty should they suspect mods or racing has caused the failure. ie...If I install aftermarket exhuast on my car, they cannot claim that it caused my power windows to stop working. TSD should never cause your vehicle to have a significant failure that wouldn't have happen during regular driving conditions.
  14. Ouch, really sorry to see/hear that. Glad you came through it ok. On a side note; That rollbar looks like the one I just traded to Monstaru. I think it was the only think still holding the rusty old brat it came from together. Definitely a worthwhile expense for anyone that is taking their rig offroad. I know there will be lots of people wanting parts from it if you decide to go that route.
  15. As always, I'll take all of this with a grain of salt until there is some actual proof given to back it up.
  16. Very cool, glad to hear it you're still working on it. There's nothing a little american ingenuity can't improve on.
  17. Yup valve body and torque converter upgrades would make a huge difference. Then again, you still only have 165hp in it. Maybe an engine swap too while you're at it.
  18. Weird, is that a factory moonroof? I didn't think it was available on cars unless you went with the "Premium" package. (leather, heated mirrors, etc) I see it has some STi bumper parts on it too. I wish the STi came in red so I could get parts for mine without having them repainted. Certainly looks like they did a decent job putting it back together again.
  19. Looks cool, I've always liked the Baja, just for the weird factor alone. I thought John was building them a lift for the Baja. Must have not worked out.
  20. Wow, I want that. It also gives me some great ideas of what to do with the left over Brat parts I have lying around.
  21. Thanks to Monstaru (and Baccaruda indirectly) I now have a working turbo in my wagon. I had no idea what the turbo icon on the digidash was supposed to do until just now. It actually looks kinda cool when it's under boost. I noticed a few things immediately after the install. No more redhot smoking turbo with burnt oil smell, and my operating temps are much lower. Go figure. It also became apparent that the automatic in the car is on it's last legs. Good thing I have that RX tranny sitting in the back of it waiting to be intalled. Now all I need is a xt6 flywheel and I can get started. Here's a pic for anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about: Thanks guys!
  22. I just started having problems with the hot/cold slider on my wagon this morning. Sorry to hear about your problems, but also glad to know I'm not the only one in the boat. Replaced my turbo yesterday, I wonder if I unplugged something accidently...
  23. My wife's WRX has 35% all around, it has a lifetime warranty and cost $220 to install it. It looks good, but I'm going to have mine done a bit darker when it comes time for it.
  24. Wow, some of the responses you've gotten so far I would expect to get over at some other forums but certainly not here. I own two WRXs a 2002 and a 2004, my 2004 is an automatic and can smoke my 5speed. I'm running catless with a helix up and downpipe. And I have a Cobb Accessport running a stage 2 map. Estimated horsepower is around 270-280. There is nothing wrong with buying a car with an auto is that's what you wanted. The WRX automatic has a far superior AWD system than it's manual counterpart. It just doesn't have the initial pep of a manual. Take a look over at LevelTen.com, they build high stall torque converters for the 4EAT, and also have a valve body upgrade available. Another TC supplier is Protorque.com Those two upgrades alone will totally transform your car, just make sure to install a tranny cooler to keep the temps down. If I was you I'd go read through some of the forums over at NASIOC.com, there is a ton of useful info there. And a lot of guys running highly modded cars with automatics. You'll just have to sift through the typical, "automatics are for losers" b.s. first. Good luck, they are a very stout little car. Feel free to ask if you need any thing else.
  25. Okay here's the video, it's in quicktime format. http://www.twistednipple.com/cars/P1010288.MOV You know the drill; Right Click > Save As... BTW: That bug is awesome.
