  1. Looks like I'll make it after all, well if I get the axle back in tonight. So who else is comming?
  2. Well it looks like I'm out, I need to fix the GL before rallyxing it and I'm working 12hr shifts until further notice.
  3. I'm not sure what's considered the safe zone, but from your symptoms it sounds like your radiator is due for a replacement.
  4. I overheard some fear and speculation, at WCSS7, that the remainder of the ORG rallyx schedule had been canceled. Well I have some good news; there will be another rallyx at the Washington County Fairgrounds on August 14th. http://p066.ezboard.com/foregonregionsccafrm16.showMessage?topicID=75.topic
  5. It's comming up on Saturday the 30th. http://www.historicbrooklyntavern.com/rallycross.htm If anyone else from PDX is going, let me know.
  6. Maybe I'll have time to come over and take a look on Sunday.
  7. Yikes 4mm.... Is that for each head or the total for both? If it's the total amount for both, then I would try using 2 headgaskets for each head. As for having a spacer laser cut, there should be someone at that shop who can take a new headgasket and create a CAD drawing based on it. Where I work, we do things like that, every now and again.
  8. I haven't had this problem but I only use Subaru Filters.
  9. Hey NVZ Did you end up swinging by Crate Lake or did you just go back accross Hwy 58?
  10. When I talked to McBrat at the show he said it was a 600cfm with off the shelf jetting and he had to tweek with the idle. The engine also has a Delta cam and EA71 pistons too. Then again I may have been just hearing things.
  11. Here are my photos. Sorry they're small but I didn't want to delete my WCSS5 & WCSS6 albums to add these. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=722
  12. Since a rear sway bar was just an option on the Gen1 Legacys and your 98 has a similar weight, center of gravity and suspension geometry; your going to be fine for the most part. Just remember that it won't corner as well and will lean more in high-speed maneuvers. Since you are looking for a new one, get one from an outback, they got an 18mm rear swaybar and it's a direct bolt in.
  13. There should be a 0 (zero) mark, that will be top dead center.
  14. Subaru even placed a sticker on the radiator noting that you only fill the radiator to a certain point. The OE and some of the better replacement radiators even have a tab in the tank as a fill too (when cold) mark. I can get a pic if you want one ED
  15. The way you're discribing the noise, it sounds more like a bad gear to me. Dose the noise vary or go away in different gears are freeway speed? If not it's probably the ring & pinion set.
  16. It sounds like you could use a new radiator. Even though your mechanic thought is was fine, it's probably has too may rows plugged up to be effective when the engine running higher rpms especially if yours is a turbo model. It's not easy to look down inside one of these radiators and see the condition of the internals.
  17. I plan on being there. Would one of the event organizers please read my last post in this thread and get back to me on my questions? http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?p=308248#post308248
  18. Depending on what year your legacy is, it may not have an EGR valve.
  19. Don't be affraid of down-shifting when going up hills. When I was in College I would have to go up Oregon's Willamete Pass which has a 6% grade for roughly 6 miles and the elevation topped out at over 5000ft. Except in the turns, 60+ wasn't a problem with my 84 GL in 3rd gear. Edit Opps I missed the part about having an automatic. Still go ahead and downshift into 2nd and keep the RPMs under 6500.
