  1. Since I haven't paid for the rally school yet, maybe I'll hold off on that and make the trip up.
  2. On EA81 models it's just a flat washer that's being used as a thrust bearing. It sounds like whoever did the work didn't grease it very well.
  3. Have you been spending too much time in 4wd on the pavement?
  4. Okay I finally got a hold of him, basically what you need to do is take out the rocker assembly and flush out every nook, cranny and oil passage with solvent. Since the replacement HLAs were quiet to begin with and then began to make noise, it dose sound like there is a problem of getting oil to the HLAs.
  5. Let me call my bud who's a subaru tech tonight and get back to you.
  6. Hey Ed, when they changed the valve angle in the EJ22 heads, it became a interference engine.
  7. IIRC EA82Ts that do not have the crankangle sensor type distributor are Hitachi. If it's possible go back with the Cap & Rotor for your RX in hand. You would have to be blind to mistake the Hitachi cap for the Nipodenso cap.
  8. A gen1 grill would be 1 piece, grill & headlight bezel. That looks like a EA81 single round headlight grill.
  9. I don't know where you got that info because it's more like 2-1/2 to 3 from Portland. My grandmother lives about 10 miles or so from there so I've made that trip plenty of times.
  10. Hey guys, if you are planning to go from Klamath Falls to Portland, the fastest way is to go North on 97 then West on 58 over to Eugene. I went college in KFalls and my parents live in the Portland area, so I made that trip several times. The other two routes take about another hour of driving. If you guys don't mind taking some extra time, then I would recromend going North on 97 then go NW on 62 and around Crater Lake then West on 138 to Roseburg.
  11. Before you start swapping HLAs you may want to check the rocker assemblies for clogged oil passages. The guys at my old shop have found that to be a common cause of HLA noise, due to a like of oil pressure to the HLAs.
  12. Have you tried cleaning out the EGR tube and is the EGR valve working correctly? Also, what temperature thermostat do you have and about where on the gage is the needle staying when the engine is warmed-up?
  13. I remember parting out a 75 4wd wagon when I work at a Subaru shop about 8 years ago.
  14. You know a 2wd EA82T clutch disk may work for this. There were some 2wd XT6s too but I think they had the bigger imput shaft like a 2wd Legacy or Impreza.
  15. it's more like an inch and a half. I've got an engine from a 97 in my 94 legacy wagon, using a 97 y-pipe and it pushed the mid pipe and muffler back. I didn't really notice this until I installed a trailer hitch. Now the muffler will rub the hitch. I few months back I got a midpipe from a 98 legacy for free and I hoped that this would cure that problem but it didn't, it's the same length as the 94 midpipe but the 98 pipe dosen't have a cat. I installed it anyway because the combination of a 97 Y-pipe and a 94 midpipe has a total of 3 cats. This was great for passing the emissions test but it suck for everything else.
  16. A good hardware store should have some but they maybe hidden. I had to ask the clerk at the local Ace hardware where he hid them. Counter clockwise
