  1. They have a sock in the tank that gos bad if you pull gauge sender you can look into tank and see whats up
  2. round here a 2.5b engine gos for 6000-8000$ and is none avalibble anywere is a problem engine and goes bad a lot a good rule is the crank berrings will be in same state as cam berrings if cam journals are scored then crank journals are scored
  3. Coged idler pully 97 could be ether way right on the cusp there was roller hydrolic and roller solid valve trains the soilid is interference for sure the hydrolic I don't think is
  4. I have done many svx trans and headgaskets the trany is not to bad to r@r and is fairly easy to rebuild I like to use the 4.44 ratios with a impreza high stall converter then they haul
  5. I put on 33s now up from the 31s that will test it more but gave me two inchs of clearance and raised the gear ratio a bitt

  9. Change front O2 senser the fuel pump is super easy right behind the rear seat back on PS side is a cover with 4 screws then you can see the fuel pump cover I putt a carter HP pump in mine for a wrx is 260 lpr vs 160 lpr stock one part # P74152HP made a big diference in my 98 outback sport
  10. oil pans never leak unless you use a cork gasket Ultra grey or right stuff silicone gasket only most likely the plastic separator plate on back of engine leaking
  11. Howbout install a small plug and hilicoil below that aplug that's 1/4 inch should still leave you room below
  12. I putt my money on loose rear sus parts I test drive 40 subarus a week in snow and ice all behave differently depending on tires air preshures. And #1 how loose the rear suspention is the rear of a awd car is more prone to handling problems if any rear bushing / strut is loose at all. As far as the awd units go not near as many problems with that as there used to be I thought the newer cars they sorted it out. But the awd cars always had a push me pull me feel to them on slippery roads since day one standard cars were not as bad as the auto ones
  13. I just scraped two ej 2.5 ds one was .25 over other stock bore and have 3 more blocks The 2.51 block I rebuild all they are still worth good bucks and in high demand but the 2.5ds are less in demand sell you a block for 100 + shiping
  14. a snapon magnetic plug socket goes a long way
  15. heater cores not to hard to change { pull whole dash as a unit } and whole heater box as a unit last one took me 1.5 hours have 6 smashed outbacks if you cant find one
  16. You have to check piston the cly walls can be fine but piston could be cracked worth looking at all of them probly good idea to ring and re rod bering it at same time the ea71 can do rods with short block still together
  17. I use that s--t on everything exhaust prevents those small leaks at the head
  18. Someone said fluid film coating helps best is to look at a members car that's rusty so you know all the spots to treat and protect and is worth it to pull some of the plastics to get to the hard to see spots
