Starting Legacy in Cold Weather ?!?!HELP?!?!
northguy replied to trxeslr66's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXSix years for a battery is not a good rule of thumb. !996 Legacy= battery still chugging along fine, even in -30 temps. 1997 Ford F-150 = same thing. 1983 Brat = I don't know how old that battery is, but it's cranking like my a meth junkie in a trailer cooking up a new batch.

SKA meet n' greet? (attn: Alaskans)
AKBrando, sorry we missed you. Kelly (Snowman) and I were at La Mex (which was closed today) from about 5:30 until shortly after 6, and then went to a pay phone to try to call you. The phone number didn't pan out and when we came back to La Mex, there was a Kia minivan out front, so I honked my Brat horn as we pulled up. We parked and hustled around to the front, but you were pulling away, or at least we believed it to be you. Again, sorry it didn't work out. Maybe next time you're in town.

2 Different Subaru boat ideas....
Kelly, I can take you to a place north of Wasilla where they build airboats from ea 81 and 82's. They like the older subbie motors because of their durability but more for their weight. They smoke other boats with a 6 blade prop.

What does an EA82 weigh?
I am not a very big guy, and I can pick up an ea81 by myself. An ea82 can't be that much more.

Backing Plate Replacement
northguy replied to reelsole's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXFirst, welcome to the board. Second, thisshould be in the new generation section, not the old. Third, even though I am not familiar with the legitimate prices for the stated part, that seems inordinate, and e-bay or a local wrecking yard will certainly allow you to retain your vehicle. Don't despair. There are always better answers than some mechanics will offer.

EMERGENCY.. advice needed please
If you can determine that it's the brakes, a propane torch for a few seconds should get you moving again.
