Superlite Wheels
Sweet82 replied to Barry Knickerbocker's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Did anyone endup ordering any of these wheels? Are they really $150 each? I paid half that for custom made rims for the Buggy. Just wondering.... Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester -

Welcome to the board, There are just a handful of lifted newer Subies out there. I'd bet those guys would have some feedback on the handling associated with a lifted Subie. Good to have you here, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester -

Welcome to the board, We think it's the best Subaru Board around:) Why are you here? Do you have a Subie, thinking about a Subie, have evil plans for a Subie or just posted in the wrong board? Tell us, inquiring minds want to know. Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester -
The Outback is nothing more than a trim package. It has nothing to do with it's ability to off-road. If it did, it would have a whole lot more modifications. The car as it is sold in the US is not setup for "Off-Roading". It's real market is snow. If you had an Australian Outback of the same year you would have a dual range transmission and lots of potential for Off-Roading. With a bit of common sence you can get any reasonable car quite a ways off the beaten path--but just like a Jeep it will only go so far with out modifications. But the bottom line answer is No! (it not really meant for off-roading) I can't get (the Forester) to spin a wheel going Uphill, around a corner, in gravel, Floored! Enjoy the car for what it is. Sweet! So what are your plans for the little Subie? Inquiring minds want to know... Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester

I think a Kawasaki got @$$ ended by a Subie and the rest is history!

Welcome to the board, I think there is some info/threads on trikes in the transplant section of the message board. I look at the Subaru motor as the new replacement for the old VW motor. Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester

Turbone is right, It looks like the engine is way down there? Is that what all lifted engine compartments look like? Not used to that look? -
It's gone? The posting has been deleted? What's going on...did it sell?

WOW! Who's got that kinda money for a rail? I'm into "Summer" $1,500 as she stands. Ya, there is a slight HP difference Extremely Cool though! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--$1,500 84 GL Mad Max--$40 01 Forester--$11,000

Did the 4sp/man have S/R and D/R?

I'd bet your 82 has low range. I'd also bet that your tranny is locked or messed. If you could get the car running, I'd bet that it may unlock itself. Maybe pushing it forward to reverse and forcing the tranny to turn a bit? My .02 Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester -

I'd think $200 would be more than fair for a junkyard car that has not sold a part in 10 years. There are no Gen1's in Utah so there is no demand for that car in Utah. I just went to my favorite yard in Salt Lake and found they are down to TWO Gen2 Subarus! There is just no demand. Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester -
What-you-talking-about-Willis? Could you splain?

I'm considering it using the Steel Trooper rims. The offset should be the same. I was going to use a smaller tire though? Are you planning on drilling the rims or the hubs? Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer--Custom 12" rims 84 GL Mad Max--Needs a lift before it gets bigger tires. 01 Forester--No mods till the warrantee is gone...
-
Have you looked at your choke? It could be that your Fuel Pump Control Unit (FPCU) has quit talking to your choke? This happened to me when I changed FPCU boxes from a different year. I had to drive around with a screwdriver in the carb to keep the valve open. Just a thought? Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--Now featuring the proper FPCU! 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester

I'm saying use different size tires to compensate for the difference so the system won't know the difference?
-
Could the 3.89 to 3.90 difference be made up in tire size? Hummm.....
-
On the bright side it's in AZ dollars so... $390 AZ = $292 US Money saved might cover some shipping and customs hassles. I'm thinking a Forester lift may be in my future... Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--Not lifted, Just built higher! 84 GL Mad Max--Still comtemplating.... 01 Forester--waiting for warrantee to run out...
-
So...3.89 gears? not..3.90 gears? What's a tenth anyway... Watching, Wondering, Waiting how this will all turn out... Developing a Locker would be a major step forward for Subieists. Keep on Raging! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--welded 84 GL Mad Max--open 01 Forester--Limited

Are we talking about the 86 XT Turbo?
