  1. Slight fuel line leak, but it would start by looking at the charcoal canister, purge valave, evap system.
  2. You did not have to drop the pan, sometimes that just makes things worse. This may have nothing to do with it, but put the FWD fuse in and report back.
  3. It is from trying to keep thngs as light as possible for better throttle response. Also subaru has a very small space to put a clutch (and beefier)transmission into. Subaru is unique in its layout, where as other companies have some room to play with.
  4. They are having teething pains with the clutches and are working on a CVT that can handle the power.
  5. Respond to this fro me so i get emailed on it, but it is late, my brain is fried, lets pick this up tomorrow
  6. Start with flusshing the fluid. FLushing forgives all sins in a sooby. How many miles again?
  7. DO the manual shift thing and drive past the RPM where the problem occures. Shift below it, at it, and above it and let me know what happens. How long has the car been doing this?
  8. Any CEL? Recent Maint history on the car? Does the car push through the shudder or does it affect performance? Any flashing lights on startup? Does it happen at a shift-point? WHat happenes if you manually shift the car?
  9. i actually use it around town too. Stick is easy. As long as you can drive a stick, you can always drive out of town when the Zombies are woken up the fallout from the nuclear war.
  10. Ah yes grasshopper, i too. But then having a L4-5 disc fused together with nerve damage has changed what i like and what i need. i would kill to be able to drive a stick again too. i can't drive far without cruise anymore.
  11. I wasnt planning on roadtripping it as it has no cruise, but I am starting to think about it.
  12. The easy way is to pull it through the firewall (I used the gas pedal cable hole). Run it under the dash, then behind the kick panel. I think i removed the panel to get the wire through. I then laid the wire out from the kick panel to the rear of the car. GENTLY push it up under the trim panels all the way up to the back seat. Run the wire under the back seat. depending upon the year the floor in the rear floats above the metal floor. Run the wire under that floor to whereever you want it to go. I have done this for 4 wires with no issues.
  13. I think i may be in trouble The punch list is much shorter and may require a call to my Insurance company soon. I flushed the cooling system (1 gallon) Flushed the CVT Tranny (4 qts Mobil one). Backed the Justy out of the driveway to do the coolant, yes i am evil and dumped the coolant all over the road. IN the process of backing it out, the Justy took off like a bat out of hell. On a justy CVT the CVT operates Forwards AND in reverse. That was too much fun. The car drives like it is on rails. this does not bode well for my insurance rates.
  14. You would see a picture like this as an ad, with a beutiful blond hanging off the brat, in perfect condition. It would be funny to have a new take on that ad.... The car as it is in the pic above, only with a more "senoir" blond or a drag queen in a blond wig :0 ah yes vicodin good ....

  16. Tire rack ships them all the time, so it must be doable... Matching sizes? pairs? Thanks
  17. Anyone have a source for 13 inch tires that do not cost a small fortune? 165/65 180/60 165/70 175/70 155/80 Sears has them new for 29.00 as their base brand. Everyone else starts at 60.00. Used are fine with me too. Somehow the sears tired end up over 150.00 . I need one but if they are cheap enough I will get 4. Nice thing is that it is 2wd so tires can be in pairs. nipper
  18. I cant park near taxi stands or taxi dispatchers as they block the signal. I have to use the key to get in the car, and then either hit the fob or turn the car on and hit the mechanic's switch. nipper
  19. He looks meaner in person, that is if a CVT Justy can be mean. Going to get the windows tinted. He has a nice buzzbomb sound to him, but the cause is the joint under the drivers seat so i need to get that fixed. The charcoal and blue works. Punch list: Replace Carb Service CVT (flush filter) replace a tire (or all 4 if 4 is cheaper then one) Fix sunbacked paint re-re-re-re-re paint tailgate Fix fuel sender Go to a exhaust shop and have something fabricated or fixed. I also need to find a upholstery shop that will fix the split seems on the seats. they are not torn just the stitching is dried out. I don't know if he will be on the road this year as he will NOT see roadsalt. Driving him is weird. The electric clutch, actually acts like a real clutch. You can feel it engeg just the way a clutch pedal would. Not quite sure what the brake switch does yet (prrbly engine braking). Have the car in drive no pedals they same as having the clutch disengaged. Start pressing the go pedal to make the car crawl (it will do this in Ds but not D) it feels like the same throttle/clutch response as having that third pedal. Take your foot off the gas your back in neutralish. Ds is for actually "Drive Slow". It is used in heavy traffic and for going up and down steep hills, It dramatically lower the gear ratios and allows you to beat Mustangs off the line for a good 20-30 feet
  20. The justy got out of the driveway under its own (albeit very rich) power...
  21. Usually a shimmy over 60 is a wheel balance issue, and yes it can just happen. Does it go away at 70-75? Rotate the tires to see if it moves.
  22. On a drain and fill flush i went through a case of tranny fluid, so it sounds about right for just draining the pan (I think as I never just drain the pan). One mre thing on the pan, the pan lip must be absolutly flat. Sometimes the lip gets bent by some overly frustrated wrench turners. nipper
  23. I started the Justy today, sadly the exhaust flange still sounds like hell, but it ran! now it needs a carb
  24. You are right, that gauge is reading way too high
