Okies. I have seen windshields pop out and wheel wells fold in due to no support. If it is an auto easy linkage. Steering may be an "interesting" modification.

There is more to a swap then just putting an egine in. If you think your bankaccount hurts now, try doing a swap that requires a lot of "engineering" I dont know if the subaru chassis can handle the weight and torque of a v-8. Brakes will have to be upgraded too. The rear diff may not take it, and bolting it up to a subaru tranny i know that wont take it.
  3. With subaru's the first step is to change the fluid. Can you define this chirp beter. Does it do it cold or wamr or all the time. What does the engine RPM do? How is it in the other gears? How is it Neural to Reverse. Does this happen from Park to reverse or D to R. How is the tranny otherwise. What is the fluid condition.
  4. I've always done it 1/4 turn past hand tight and never had a leak. I agree on the over-tightening
  5. Because the cylinders need to be honed or machined to break the edge at the end of the pedal stroke. The edge is what kills the cups, or just the age of the cups and the fluid. You need a master and a slave cylinder.
  6. Subaru flywheels really do not like being resurfaced unless it only needs a really fine cleaning up. May want to replace it.
  7. Frozen calipers. Slide pins are seized, or the pistons or both. I would see if it is just the sliders, then you may not need to replace calpipers
  8. Blown speaker or a bad connection. Both speakers see the same wear so it is not too unusual to see them go poof in pairs especially if it is a 2 person car.
  9. And the Owners manual tells you how to replace bulbs. I go with the short but why did you buy a bulb at a dealer$hip. Bulbs are bulbs are bulbs and any autopart chain store will have a full selection CLean all the contacts, and how well do the rears operate.
  10. Yes it does make a difference. You could possibly warp the head if you dont do it, besides it is not going to take any extra time to loosen it in order a little at a time untill you feel the bolts have no more pressure on them.
  11. We have absolutly no idea since model year and trim levle have not been listed.
  12. My mechanic said he has seen alo of people buying new and older subarus.
  13. I was filling up Blu. This nice older lady carefully gets in her Subaru. I thought it was a leagcy, had the lines, next to Blu it lookes about the right size... It was an Imp! the Imp is almost as large as my 97 outback. Maybe I would need to go down a size to keep in about Blu's class.
  14. Yup mine grinds on corners, and what is more bothersome is that Blu is wandering on the road more and has a high speed shimmy sometimes. After this last 40 mile trip today i am putting him on bed rest till surgery. After 5 years it is time to come out.
  15. It is even older then that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opposed-piston_engine The issues with it is that are low rpm engines and take lots of room.
  16. It is one of two things, a worn wheel speed sensor or a cracked tone ring. If you cant pull the codes do the next best thing, inspect them. The speed sensor should be perfectly cylindrical.
  17. Do you have a CEL? The AWD in this year (I may be wrong) Has 2 vss snesors. If they both go out the cel should be on and the cars performance, well, odd and the spedo wont work. Check the wiring harness, as it is rare for them both to quit at the same time.
  18. If they blink too fast they can not be seen from a distance by some drivers and may be confusing in some weather conditions. Beleive it or not there is standard for the number of flashes per minute of the signals, there is a range but if you notice cars are pretty close to each to eachother in flashes.
  19. I'll post pics as soon as I finish the trim. It has been to windy to paint. I am getting really good at masking
  20. Law of thermodynamics over time it wouldnt matter as the temps would equilize. Granted on the inlet you would see a longer lag. But in truth I really dont want to take that apart again unless I got the flow wrong.
  21. Sadly no. It is the charcoal brown. I just painted the bumpers, surrounds on the tail and frt turn signals and trim. I would like some flash to it as it looks so ..... brown. I saw one screaming yellow but he stripped it down to the shell to do it.
  22. If he goes woodgrain he would need to get ejected from the group
  23. AHA! Woshing is air in the system. It may have purged itself on the long drive.
  24. Thats what makes driving thrilling
  25. Not yet, as it is something that needs to be done so I just close my eyes and sign the credit card. I need one more day out of blu but I think he may come undrivable shortly. Thats what AAA is for.
