Its not unusual to have the master cylinder go like described above, but on a 99 thats a little to new for it to happen. nipper -

Its been covered here and if you do a google search on it you will find lots of info. A cooler plug just means that the plug has less metal on it so it wont retain heat. If the plug retains too much heat it can cause ping. This ping is annoying, as opposed to compression ping (hot spots on the piston or cylinder head) which can cause damage. A hotter plug is used for short distance driving, as it retains more heat and wont foun as easily. Usualkly you dont move more then one heat range in either direction. nipper -

Also did you lubricate the sliders? Are the brake pads fully seated? And the biggy, when you bled the brakes, did you always put brand new fresh fluid in the master cyinder? nipper -
I'm not quite sure what your tring to say ... ARe you saying when turning the crankshaft by hand, you can hold both the left and right axles at the same time, and they will not move? If you Hold one wheel, the oppisit one will turn twice as fast in the revers direction. If you hold both wheelsthey wil not move. If you hold both wheels while turning the crankshaft they will rotate in the same direction. Am i close? BTW thats how a differential operates. http://auto.howstuffworks.com/differential2.htm nipper

The way the the belt works, is that there is a very small counter weight that "locks" the belt. This is the inertia lock. You have to hold the belt retractor just right to get the belt to unwind. If you look closely you can see the swing weight. It helps tyo look at the postion of the belt as installed in the car to get it to release, as sometimes they are not at a right angle in any plane. nipper

Ditto, but i needed A cv joint and wheel bearing all at the same time, so was never sure of the cause and effect. I remeber with mine the vc boot wasnt spinning. nipper -

I bought this here as i got tired of going upfront. When was the last time this thing had a timing belt done. Coil test is spray the engine with water while its running and see if you have any voltage leakage (sparks). I am not sure how you are reading coil resistance Primary should be 0.63- 0.77 ohms. Secondary can be 10.4 to 24.5 K ohm depending upon who made them. Get new wires. Bad wires even with a brand new coil still makes the coil useless. nipper

replace the wires if they are over 10 years old. An ohm meter only tells you part of the story, and no one really has the equipment to test wires properly. You have either a dead cylinder, poor compression, or a misfire. We can rule out a misfire easily. Also what plugs did you put in the car. Lets attack the CO first, performance second.

Pry bar doesnt work if the balljoints are spring loaded or in some configurations. With single ball joints you can see the movement by moving the wheel. You can alos check for tie rod play this way too (and wheel bearings). If you arwent used to it you may need one person to move the tire and the other to look at the components. If you are doing this on jack stands, dont get under the car while moving the wheel. Can you reproduce this sound by bouncing on the car? nipper -
