  1. I sure could use my bumper too. -Brian
  2. Looks real good. That pipe looks familiar. Looks like some rubber hoses I picked up at Home Depot for my Intercooler install: I only ran with that setup for a couple days. Under boost I could feel the hoses expand, and it was getting pretty ugly. I ordered 2.38" mandrel bends and setup alittle something like this: Alittle paint and replaced the duct tape with some weld: Ive noticed a difference even without a scoop to supply fresh air. Ive thought about setting up a water nozel but want to get more airflow through there first. -Brian
  3. Yeah, its not that big of a deal. Is this where the tie rod end is attatched to the knuckle? or where the Ball joint holds the knuckle at the bottom? If its the tie rod end, then just remove the tie rod, get a new one... be done with it. If its at the bottom then all you need is a new ball joint. Maybe a picture would help. -Brian
  4. Yeah i think i will replace the fluid in the LSD and do the rear CV as well. I just so happend to have found a spare Rear CV i had for my lifted Wagon. Problem is, its in my Wagon up at Jibs house. I'll have to remember to get it next time im up there. In the meantime, im going to start shopping for gearoil. -Brian
  5. Only really happens if I accelerate from a stop, making a right or left turn (at a light or stop sign etc...) I can feel the rear end shudder alittle until i straighten up and continue to accelerate. Im almost certain its my LSD binding. Is this something a fluid flush can solve? or does it sound like i'll need to rebuild it? I dont want to pull the diff twice. Also, I talked to a friend who just converted his LSD and he said he bought standard diff oil that said it had an LSD addative that made it okay. Im wondering if this would be okay or if I should locate some LSD Special Oil. Any suggestions on brands and types are greatly apreciated And I should also add that my rear drivers side CV is completly thrashed, and had a plastic bag zipped tied around the inner joint to replace the missing boot. Ive never had a problem running bare rear CV's, but Ive also never had a AWD tranny like this -Brian
  6. That is a very good looking garage Corky! I can only dream of the project's we'll see rolling out of there. And your right, WHO NEEDS WINDOWS!?!? Plenty of lighting and you can work well into the night... and not ever know about it. Looks like theres plenty of room for storage between the house and the shop too. -Brian
  7. Sonora is only a couple hours east of you guys. A couple hours south-east for me. -Brian
  8. Wrong. Full Time 4WD is the same as AWD. No AWD comes standard with limited slip front diffs, dont know who told you... but they're wrong. Newer advanced AWD technology will sence the slipping of a front wheel, apply brake to ONLY that wheel which transfers the power to the other wheel with more grip. You wont find that in any EA82 and unless you swap the computer and tranny from a new Legacy, you wont get it. The Full Time 4WD acts exactly as any AWD would of its erra. Your car has an open center diff.... which transfers power to both front and rear diffs all the time (AWD). When you lock the center diff you are getting 50/50 front rear... no more open center diff. Your car does, however, have a rear Limited slip (or it should). Definatly a beautiful score, expecially for $100! -Brian P.S. The "Full Time 4WD" is just a fancy word for AWD before subaru came up with AWD. Notice, nothing was All Wheel Drive before 1990.
  9. Alittle off topic, but... At work we have a Fed-EX delivery driver... and we have a UPS Delivery Driver. Each time the Fed-EX Guy comes in I always say "Hey... our UPS delivery guy keeps talking *************** about you." And when the UPS driver comes in I tell him "Hey, you know that Fed-EX driver of ours is always talking *************** about UPS, he sais he wants to fight." Im hoping one day they'll both be there delivering at the same time and maybe I can get them to box -Brian
  10. Yes, search for a weber DGEV 32/36. You will need an adapter plate to fit it to the EA81 engine, but it will bolt up and you will have no need for any of the wiring garbage you have now. You will also get a huge boost in HP. -Brian
  11. From what I understand, the starter is STILL turning slowly?? Im gonna try to get up there sometime soon to take a look at it. Im hoping its only a starter... but this starter worked fine before we put the engine in. -Brian
  12. Up there its PaP, not the same as our PnP. Same concept, different name. I love the suprises I find at the yards. -Brian
  13. S'ko, those are bigger plans for another day. I do plan on having a beach party for us Californian Subaru guys, but I have to get my next lifted rig built before that can happen. Thinking this will be a nice drive and picnic in the mountains, maybe near Sonora. -Brian
  14. Sure makes the B9's look a whole lot better! The new Impreza's dont look too bad I guess, still better than the Bugeye IMO. Im just affraid to see what they will do to the forester -Brian
  15. A guy at works races there all the time. And a friend of mine in the Bay Area is building a BMW and keeps talking about going to Thunderhill. Maybe one day the RX will be trustworthy enough to take out there. -Brian
  16. Uhm, that is kinda cool. Tracks are far too big! BUt that body looks to be in decent shape. -Brian
  17. WOW! I Thought i had it bad with California Emissions!! You guys are being tortured with those regulations on lifts and tires! -Brian

Chux is right. Normally a dually is made to support more wieght (distribute the wieght more evenly). But in a situation like this you'd want duallies so you can stay on top of the snow/mud instead of sinking into it. -Brian
  19. Wow, GRATZ Adam!! And tell Bekah the same. -Brian
  20. Negative goes from the battery to the engine block. There is also a smaller ground from the tranny to the spare tire carrier. Wish i wasnt 2 hours away, i could go up there and take a look... possibly fix it for him. -Brian
  21. The drop is acomplished by using 2WD XT Struts. They will give you about a 2" drop. The 5 lug conversion (what Subaru Styles has) is completly different. If you want a drop, but with a stiffer ride, use XT struts and RX springs. SHould account for a 1" drop since the RX springs are stiffer than XT's. This is all for the front. I have yet to lower my rear end. -Brian
  22. Paint the body kit black to match your grill. Thats the cheap and easy way out. But I would suggest you paint the entire kit to match the car... including the grill. -Brian
  23. K.I.S.S Thats what its all about. Why dont we have them??? Cause we dont need them. Its one less part to fail and Subaru knew it would be beating around the bush to try to develop one. Our 4WD is nothing like that of a conventional truck with locking hubs. Our transfer case is completly different and our drivetrain is completly different. However, i thought of adapting locking hubs for the rear to run a locked rear end without having to remove axles when on the street. Idea never made it far. -Brian
  24. High centering sucks, and stumps do too. Never hit my head on anything, but have drug my floorboards over many-a-rock. An extra 3" helps alot. -Brian
