  1. Only 3 days left. I went up early this morning and there is snow. It is still in the upper elevations. Was trying to snow while I was there though. Keep your fingers crossed for some more. Tree selection will be very good. I have about 5 or 6 cars arriving with me. See you there!!

Cool, and get that skid plate on soon. It will save the oil pan!!
  3. Dude, quit quoting specs unless you know 'em. That is a 1982 GL Brat. If you look real close you may recognize it as SubaruBrat's rig. Which reminds me, did you ask Scott before you snagged his image? BTW, it does look real good though. Very eye catching!
  4. 45 degree's is diagonal. It needs to be vertical or horizontal.
  5. The bolsters in the RX seats are more pronounced and a little stiffer seat. I have the XT6 seats in my beast and I enjoy them. The Impulse seats in the "Beauty" are nice too.
  6. Your key will only turn 90 degrees. I believe straight up and down is open and sideways is locked. Sorry, been a while since we had ours. EDIT, I just realized what you were trying to say. Take the interior panel off of the hatch. Inside you will see the linkage and lock cylinder and such. Look for a rod that is laying down in the bottom of the hatch. You'll see where it connects into the cylinder.
  7. And for the record. MPFI was available in 1985 for the EA82. XT's and 2wd auto sedans had it. But yes, the first issue was in the late '83 turbo EA81's. And Corky's description of your question is dead on. L4 in a 'roo. Not yet, but there is an L3.
  8. I would imagine that the CV is hyperextended. You'll need to either take the inner bolt for the control arm out or pop the ball joint out of the socket in the spindle. That way you can take the joint off of the tranny. Then the motor/tranny will probably sit down as it's supposed to. The only way to "FIX" it is to remove the boot and reassemble it. Then reinstall the boot and clamp. The DOJ is supposed to have a spring clip inside the cup that prevents it from doing this. Unfortunately, most rebuilders do not reinstall the clip.
  9. I agree as the gasket s/b fine. Just make sure that none of the coating has been removed from the gasket.
  10. Well, after checking it out it appears to be bad/worn springs on the coilovers. With the rears completely raised and the front at it's lowest settings the rear only is 3/4" higher. Turbone has a set of shocks to replace them with and see if that improves the stance. Good luck Greg.
  11. Donors are what life is all about. I have done the same thing a few times. Many parts that keep all those should be buried Subaru's alive.
  12. A couple reasons people are a little tense about strret racing is there have been a lot of deaths lately directly connected to street racing. Getting worse around here evry day. Most are caused by too young inexperienced drivers driving cars that they can not handle. Racing is defined as any comparison of speed at any speed. Yes, that would even include seeing who could go the slowest. A friend of mine is a cop for a local small town. I asked him to pace me when I did some tire tranny work and that is when I got the racing definitions from him. And...I too have a daugther. Ask around and I bet you won't want to go there with me either. On the respect note, you can't get respect from or for something that someone doesn't understand. That is one of the reasons we are involved with the West Coast Subaru Show. It serves as a tool to teach people about the past and the heritage that is Subaru.
  13. I know you are. There are so many relays everywhere on that one it would be hard to remember them all.
  14. And if he had posted to this before I would have placed him in that sentence as well. That seemed the best response at the moment. I know where the info is when we need it. BTW, I have some stuff that may be of interest to the both of you. Contact me off board when you get the time.
  15. I'll trade you an... They are the same year Mark. I bet you even have the ad showing them together.
  16. I test drove the '05 GT wagon. Nice car, but the roof opens way too far for my liking. The straight away power is good but handling flat sucks. The best way to describe it is clumbsy. I think the one problem this one had is the RE92's. Absolutely zero holding power in corners. It had very comfortable interior. Overall a nice car but inadequate handling for a Turbo. Felt like an old EA82 wagon with more power and nicer interior.
  17. Probably a combination of things. Worn shock on that side and carrying too much work related gear in the back. It's pretty tough to bend the trailing arm.
  18. Thanks Chris. I guess I have another reason to go to PaP. Arch, XT6 is N/A, no turbo.
  19. I need to know if there is a fuel pump relay on these little monsters. It was running and the battery shorted and spent one of the fusible links. I am wondering if it got the relay or the pump. Have spark and runs off of starting fluid. Thanks!!
  20. They are as far as I know. The only difference is in spring rate of the plate and spline count. You can have the EA81 flywheel cut to the EA82 specs. The only issue I can see you having is with the ER27 throw out bearing. Good luck.
  21. What you have is an auto vs. manual bellhousing. If you look at the back of the block you will see a bunch of bolt heads inside the bellhousing(about 8-10 I think). If you remove those bolts you can swap the bellhousing. Make sure to use some sealant when you put it back together or it will leak forever. Also use lock-tite(thread sealant) on the bolts. This will also prevent oil leaks as the front side of the crank flange is exposed to the oil journals. Good luck! Also note that you will need to use the distributor from the '83. In '82 they used an ignition amplifier(parts connected to the holddown bracket on the coil).
  22. Good description but a pic would do wonders.
  23. If memory suits the EA81 flywheels are about .100 deeper than the EA82's and ER27's. The correct combination is the EA81 disc with the ER27 PP along with the ER27 flywheel. Usually, this combination is used with the 5sp trans so that the correct TO bearing can be used. The only benefit from the XT6 flywheel is a savings of about 5-7lbs of weight. And a slightly stronger PP designed for more horsepower. This may be detrimental to an offroader as the heavier flywheel will keep the momentum going.
