I used to live by Lake Sawyer, many years ago. Used to go to that yard occasionally. That and 4 Corners. That was around the time you were born;) I've had 2 accidents in BD. One right in front of Boots and the other in front of the old Market down the road. I live in Bonney Lk now. Frank makes killer jerky btw. -

I went to college also. It taught me the basics, but in real life things work differently. Experiance is the main thing, you have to start from some where. -

Oops! 10w-30 Oil in PS pump
Turbone replied to Virrdog's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Was the car running? If not, you might be able to get away with just suctioning (yes, turkey baister) the resevour out. If it was running, a flush might be in order. It depends on how much was put in and how it reacts. -

Take Corky's advice on this one. I know what it takes to run a biz and he's spot on. It also might be a good idea to take a business class at a local community college, like Green River CC. It takes alot of sit down paperwork to keep a biz going, taxes, payroll(if you hire), insurance, etc. -
The cone washer is wore out. And most likely the flat washer also.

All carb engines have higher comp than turbo's. Its not just a simple remove from one and install in the another. The EA81T is unique because the injectors are in the heads. You will need the wiring harness, ECU, fuel pump, fuel sending unit, engine x-member and maybe more peices I missed. And this is if you have the complete engine to do the swap.

WooHoo! Betcha they never expected that out of a 88 GL-10:headbang: The ultimate sleeper:burnout: -
That used to be my old Hatch. Then he butchered it:-\ Its still not running, like said by Chux, he has steering to figure out yet. All the work was done by someone else. Maybe he'll get tired of it and sell it. Maybe I'll buy it back:brow: Btw, my new Hatch doesnt have a full frame and I'm running a Nissan T-Case.

Rat Smell from heater. Need Help.
Turbone replied to Jofus's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
You will need to pull the glove box out and the panel under it also. This way you can get to the duct work and the heater itself. Pull all the duct you can and wash it with hot soapy water. Some here have used some type of chemical (Pine Sol maybe?) to help cut the odor. The motor should drop out the bottom of the heater, the nest might be in there. There is some ducting that goes over to the drivers side also, pull the panels off under the dash to get to them. Good luck. -
Whats that off of? I want one too:brow:

Flushing crankcase after headgasket failure?
Turbone replied to PonchoCatalina's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Believe me, you DONT want to leave the mixture in the engine. It eats away the cylinder walls. I have about 3 EA82T blocks with 2 cyl each that have major cancer from having the fluids left in them for long periods. Dont know what it will do in short periods, but why take a chance? I just got done replacing the HG's on my RX (yes, its running again:headbang: ) and I was very surprised to see one of the cyl had cancer. It was obvious it had blown a HG at another time and they had left the fluids in it. The car ran great before and after the HG's blew, but I have yet to check compression to see if theres actually a difference. I plan on useing a can of Restore after I check, just because:rolleyes: Btw, because I did have milkshake in the crankcase, once I got everything back together I put in 2 guarts of cheap 10-40 and 2 guarts of tranny fluid. I ran it for about 5min and drained the mixture and got more gunk out. Put a fresh filter on and new oil and its checking out very clean after about 100mi. -

Dont have a clue who you went to, most EA81 owners that I know do thier own work. If you can still see the cross hatching on the cylinder walls and there isnt a big ridge on the top rim, they are fine. You can get a crate engine from Japan for $300-$400 and they usually only have 30K+/- on them. The guides are for the valve stems, all head work should include them with a valve grind also. The price on that seems a little steep, but I could be wrong-I've never had it done. But a head milling I did just have done, it cost $75 for both heads. If the engine didnt blow smoke or have a rod knock, it should last for a long time to come. I say put it back together and keep on trucking(or Soob'n) -

I'm still working on it. Would love to be a professional driver:headbang: If I ever get my back problems straightened out, who knows? -
The axle stubs are in the front diff, no need to tear into the tranny itself. Does it have a locking diff? Just a little extra there, dealing with the actuator. What year is the tranny?

Mechanic, skill (or memory) is sometimes questionable:o 3. Technical, sure I can find something there I've done. 4. Computer field, Associates degree in electronics. I occasionally build computers. 5. Retail/service field, would Volunteer Firefighter/EMT be in this field? 6. Production/Const, was a Carpenter for over 20yrs. Worked at a manufacturing plant making parts for Boeing aircraft. 7. Retired? Partially disabled, working on full:rolleyes: 9. Military, USN Viet Nam Vet -

EA-81 oil pump ???'S Update 08-05-06
Turbone replied to TomRhere's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Well, not to beat a dead horse, but I just wanted to point out my mistake. I didnt relate the fact that Tom was talking about a EA81 oil pump, I thought it was just a 1800 pump. Difinate difference:-\ I'm correct if talking about EA82 1800 pumps. There is no paper gasket. Note to self. Slowly read original post before commenting:rolleyes:
