  1. So what your saying is, you want pics of the engine and tranny outside of the car?
  2. Then why not just drop a EA82T in it?
  3. I agree with John, this could still be a timing issue. You said it backfires thru the carb, this is a sure sign of bad timing. Might want to check those belts again.
  4. Geez, and I thought I lived in the sticks You live in the middle of Puget Sound!
  5. Over here the 83 DL had a EA81 from the factory. Was the EA82 in yours a retrofit?
  6. If you pull the engine and tranny as a unit, you wont have to much work under the car. Just to remove the tranny x-member and linkage. You might want to remove the engine/tranny in the car your putting the lift in first. Once they are out, go ahead with the removal of the other engine/tranny pull.
  7. Great pic! And the STI Brat is a looker. But isnt that a Mitsu in the bottom center?
  8. Some of us have done AT to MT swaps and its no piece of cake. You need to install another pedal on the assembly box. Need to change the rear end to match ratios. Need to change tranny mounts and any other mounting needed. You also need to defeat the AT elec lock out switch. Now, if your a ambitious person and want that MT tranny real bad, go for it. Just my .02
  9. But it wil get a little rusty I wish I could remember everything I knew and lernt
  10. Sounds like the thermostat is sticking. Make sure you replace it with OEM, all others suck and dont last. 180deg is the recommended temp.
  11. Yeah, that was before he had a Subaru addiction I dont think he's lost his sense of humor tho
  12. Yes Mick, you did. I kept the paper I wrote it all on, let me know if you need it again.
  13. Looking gooood Btw, what kind of roof rack is that?
  14. I'll try and get a pic of the "setup" on Hatchet this weekend. Its not your everyday washer
  15. If I recall, you supplied the parts? He would have assumed you had bought the correct parts. But on the other hand, when he installed the water pump he should have been able to tell that the pulleys did not line up and then should have said something.
  16. Wow, deja vue all over agian Wish we had snow we had to dig out of :-\

  18. Well, when you put in a 30amp fuse and saw smoke come from the steering column, I would say you located the problem. Theres obviously a short in there and you might need to replace the horn or at least find out why its shorted. There should be a connector plug for the horn, disconnect it and then try another fuse (the right amperage). You can always install a different horn button. No FSM needed here, just common sense.
  19. I believe its the flasher unit itself he's looking for. Its above the fuse panel, towards the firewall and is cylindrical/silver or square/black.
  20. Do what Dustyrider suggests, CCR is the way to go for a rebuilt. It might cost less if you go with the shortblock (no intake). Miles, 3hrs timing belt change with covers on
  21. If we go to Evans Creek, you can park it at my place, its on the way. See my new ride Jared?
  22. Qman used the PVC material for his snorkel on his old hatch, pretty much how you want to route it. I dont hink he had any problems with restrictive airflow and it worked quite well. Wish I could find the pics I had of it :-\
