Possible D/R, turbo; need fenders/wheels
Turbone replied to 4byRoo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yours should be SPFI, so your ok for fuel lines. You will need the fuel pump tho, different rates. The engine block is different also, your has a higher compression and the turbo isnt. Cross member needs to be changed in order to accept the cross over pipe, and the rest of the exhaust is also needed. The ECU is different too, so basically everything in the wagon needs to be transplanted. Oh, the axles are different also. Like I said, lots of work and parts. -

If its a MT, it should already have a 5 D/R in it. Did they come with single range that year? Putting a turbo on it is possible but your looking at alot of work and parts. Its easier to start with a turbo Soob than do the comversion. Should be a few folks in your area that might have some fenders, Moosens would be one. -
They are both grounds. When you push on the horn it completes the circuit. The power is down at the horn and goes to the fuse panel.

Got fluid in the rear diff? Does it do it on all road surfaces?

Look for foriegn objects in between the wheels and hubs, or a rock in the drum (if you have them).

Hit while parked again!!!!!
Turbone replied to biffanyus's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Sad and ironic at the same time. Some friends of mine just purchased a 85 4wd N/A wagon. She started working at Target and didnt want to driver her 01 Mustang, but with the old Soob (not in pristine condition but not a beater) she's not worried about it in the lots. The same thing happened to me in a lot over 25yrs ago in my 68 Firebird. We had just got back in and the guy next to me opened his door and hit the side of my car, hard. We just looked at him in shock cause he didnt even acknowledge it or say sorry. I told my buddy to open his door and do the same. BAM! The guy just looked over at me, started his car and drove off. Flippin moron -

What parts were reused from the other engines? Is the problem related to all 3? It almost sounds like the wrong heads are on it -
This is his first one. We made a big deal of it at the show when he won it. He has no excuse now

crack in turbo housing

I would say change it. Why do further damage to it and possibly to something else? Theres lots of EA82T units around. -
cheap (?) GL10 in auburn, split idea?
Turbone replied to baccaruda's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I've got to much time on my hands I went and looked at it today, the tranny is definately toast. Park wont even hold the car from rolling. But on the good side, the car is in fair shape, just the right front corner is a little banged up, and there is almost no rust. Interior is in good shape. It has 161K on it. If you had the parts this would be cheap transportation, either another AT or a 5spd. A 4wd conversion would work also. -
Switching a digital speedometer
Turbone replied to river2surf's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Is it a manual or auto? I think there is a button on the trip computer. On my 86 digidash there is a button on the very left side of the display that changes the display, but I'm not familiar with the 89 and I cant find anything in the FSM. -

131K on the T-Wagon with about the same average MPG everyone else posted. And with the same stipulations (to much WOT). The RX isnt getting any MPG right now cause it doesnt have a heart, awaiting transplant -

Eh, I saw that on Ebay also. It just down the road from me (almost). If it had been a turbo I would have had a hard time not going to look at it I need a good short block  -
He might want to know with what type of struts/shocks to use also. The rear shocks from any EA82 can be used, usually the adjustable type for a 4wd. The front struts from the same rig will work also. And the struts from a XT will lower the car a little as well.

Or get a set of 14in Pug steelies and put some Snow tires on them. Should give you lots of clearance and shouldnt rub if the tires arent to tall.

Hah, thats great! You even staggered them -
Dave, you could have problems running the 4spd with the turbo. I tried this several years ago with a 84 T-Wagon and went thru 2 clutches in less than a month. If you want to spend the $ for a real good clutch, I would suggest putting a 5spd in. Its the gear ratios, to much torque in 1st and 2nd gear.
