Carb experts - help please! EA81 Hitachi Q's *update - fixed*
When you rebuilt the carb, is there a gasket that seperates the 2 halfs? I ask because I've torn down other carbs, but not a Hitachi. It kind of sounds like there is fuel going somewhere where it shouldnt be when you slosh it inside. If there was a break/misalignment of some kind on the gasket, this might happen. Or maybe the screws that hold the halfs together are not tight. I've only had one Soob that had a Hitachi on it, the rest are Weber and FI.

Seattle Group Meet
I thought the meet and greet at Alkii was this weekend? That would make it the 3rd, not the 10th. Lets get this date straight.

HA! I passed
Way to go! Glad to know I'm not the only one who's had the experience of being a EMT in Wa state. I was a volunteer Fireman/EMT for Bonney Lake for several years (92-99) before I had to give it up. Thats one helluva test too, and you did pretty good, congrats. Who's your sponsor?

EA81T upgrades and mods question, attn. Skip
I burned up 2 clutches because it was a EA81 (not T), not meant for Turbos. And I was using a 4spd tranny. 2 row rads were never stock for Subaru, it will be hard to find in the JY. I'm not sure about the diff between the flywheels, but I'm positive there will be. If you are going to have 2 turbos on this car, do not use a EA81 4spd. It just isnt going to work. Put in a 5spd D/R, and have Jerry make you the shifter kit. It looks completly stock (EA81). Why are you going to put a Volvo IC in if you dont even know what it looks like?

As for the others, well, I've only off roaded with Austin, Zap and Ed before Plus, theres not much for 4 wheeling in that area I believe? Its still on for Sat at 3pm?

EA81T upgrades and mods question, attn. Skip
The EA81T and the EA82T are alot different and simaliar in some ways. You can do more mods to the EA82T. But to answer some of you questions along with Skip, 1. Some of the goodies that Skip uses are EA82T exclusive, but some may work for the EA81T. Like the boost pressure valve (which I think is adjustable boost control), dash controlled disty timing is for advancing the timing to help avoid detonation. 2. I think right now, the XT6 flywheel is the lightest "stock" one around, altho I'm not sure if anyone has put one on a EA81T yet. I'm not sure if theres a diff between the 2wd or 4wd EA81's. You can use the EA82 and lighten it some like Skip did. Then again, it was for a EA82T. 3. To make a LSD a 3.90 ratio, you need to remove the guts and install it into a 3.90 diff with the ring and pinion. I believe the procedure is in the USRM. 4. Max boost for a EA81T? Who knows? Stock is 7psi. I would think the safe limit would be around 12psi, but I could be wrong. There is no fuel cutout on the EA81T that I'm aware of. There is an Air Relief Valve on the EA81T manifold, that releases air if the wastegate fails to release enough boost. This needs to be eliminated, but a well built boost controller needs to be installed. 5. I think a 2 row rad will work fine, and dual fans will fit. 6. There is a stock oil cooler on the EA81T already. 7. I'm not sure how you would run the plumbing for a front mount IC. Its pretty straight forward no the top mount. 8. Use the biggest Accel coil there is, not the one everybody has been using lately (POS IMO). I'm not at all sure how this will all mate up and run with the setup you are thinking of, but if you are determined I say "Damn the Torpedoes, Full Steam Ahead!"

rear spring up grade 4 cheap!
What I meant by PNP was plug and play, sorry. Also, the other question I asked was if you guys had the adjustable rears coil overs or not. But after reading some more, and the updated info, I'm guessing you do and are replacing the spring (hence the spring compressor).

Seattle Group Meet
I suggest since no one really has a capable offroad Soob, that you just meet n' greet. Find a place where you can take pics and hang out for a little bit.

Can I swap seats?
Turbone replied to powderhound's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXDo you have seat controls on the left side of the drivers seat? Wont work if you do. Being a newer car, a seat from the JY would be hard to find. You could upgrade to some "Better" ones.

rear spring up grade 4 cheap!
Ok, I'm assuming that your wagons do not have the adjustable rear coil overs. But the extra lift you are getting is more than you would get with the adj type jacked all the way. And these are PNP? No mods necessary? Do they say Honda on them?, haha with grinder in hand

Thanks to all that helped . . .

I think he's talking about the cross drilled rotors Andy. Not a bad idea of redrilling the hubs tho.

Check the rotor like Caleb suggested. If it spins, you know you lost the screw. J/K, teasing you too with the "Bob"
